Just finished up this Rem 700 lefty for my oldest son.

1977 action, semi-trued and reblued.

Shilen #2 .284" 9" twist at 24"

McMillan Hunters Edge handle.

Weighs 6lbs 5 ounces as pictured...with talley LW's and a 3-9 Leupy lightweight it'll be a hair over 7lbs

Think he'll like it?

Wow 6lbs 5 ounces! That would be an amazing mountain rifle. When I think my Sako is just under 11lbs, it makes me regrets my choice of a heavy barrel and laminated stock.

Nice rifle, congrats

SOB I wish my dad built me custom rifles. The crotchety old man makes me put his guns together, roll him reloads AND sight the sob in for him....

It's ok by me though :)

So what's this youre slumming a .338 Fed now?

I'm in the process of building a new rifle (338-06), have a Ruger 77 I want a new barrel and stock for. If you don't mend me asking what is the approx. cost to build a rifle like yours?

a McMillan Edge stock will cost you about $600, a barrel blank about $375-$450 depending on what name you like to drop, and you'll pay a 'smith about $300-$400 to put it all together with a bedding job. And then there are extras like action trueing, fluting, action mods etc.
