Mmm new gun smell. No idea what kind of ammo to put through this thing I'll try a bunch but suggestions would be good if y'all got any

22lr

40gr hp Winchester Power Points! Most accurate in 2 CZs that I know of. The only place in the Calgary area that carries them is Bass Pro.

I have pretty much run the gamut with the ammo I have used thru my 452. Everything from Eley to cheap Fed's have worked great. The only round I had problems with were CCI's, for some reason when using them, the bolt is more difficult to close. Not a big deal, still shot them great.

Congrats on buying the best- 452, get them while you still can...

Clean the barrel then clean the barrel and then clean the barrel until the patchs come out clean. Where you start with ammo will become a lifelong challenge to find the most consistent brand and style. If you want one hold groups at 50 metres, start with top of the line Eley, Lapua or RWS. Otherwise 333 or 525 is worth a try.

A good thing to remember, in most 22 LR the bullet lube when trying for the best make is a big deal. I tried about 15 different makes and found that I would fire up to 10 rounds of a different make before the bullets would settle into a decent group. This when not cleaning the barrel. If shooting a cleaned barrel, it would sometimes take up to 25 rounds before the barrel settled in. The rifle is a CZ452 Varmint with a Yodave kit.
I settled on SK Standard ammunition and the rifle shoots under 1 inch at 100 yds if I do my part.
Regards

I agree, my 22's need to condition themselves to a particular ammo before acheiving the best shot groups. If you switch back and forth, firing 5 rounds of brand X then 5 rounds of brand Y, you get results that are not indicative of the capability of the ammunitions.

This is the cheap eley, $5 box. AE bulk works very well. surprisingly you will be asking what doesn't work well.

CZ 452 rifles have a short throat and cci ammo has a wider drive band on the bullet .thats what causes the stiff bolt closure.
I have had good sucess with cci bulk ,eley sport and eley club as well as sk standard.try a bunch of different ammo the rifle will tell you what it likes to be feed.
