I received mine today. Beautiful rifle. Very nice trigger.

But... this rifle reminded me why I hate too many options such as being able to change the barrel. I went to remove the 16" chrome line barrel to replace it with the 20" LMT SS barrel. I followed the instructions to a T. The front bolt was tough, it felt like it loctite or something then it gave and no problem. I backed out the second bolt as instructed. The barrel wouldn't budge. So then I look and the first screw had snapped at the threading. Fortunately I was able to get the piece out of the threads without damaging anything. But.. I now have only one bolt for the barrel.

I've sent off an email to Questar and LMT. Now keep in mind I bought this rifle second hand and it was NIB. Which appeared to be correct from the condition. I have no reason to doubt the seller especially as I felt the bolt snap. So we'll see how it works out. It's an inexpensive part.

Something to be aware of. Don't plan on changing your barrels a lot.

I'm a little choked about this. That being said it was a good deal and is a beautiful rifle.

Thought I'd pass along my unfortunate experience. I'm sure I'll be able to get this up and running soon.

Update:

Questar emailed me and they are sending me a free replacement bolt. That just made my day.

I've heard from an LMT rep himself that the included torque wrenches cannot be trusted. The rep actually told me he bought another torque wrench because of over-torquing and snapping bolts. Your case isn't wrench related, but the bolt seem a little weak.

The included torque wrenches are from a fairly mediocre brand (at least the ones I got with my MRP and MWS...). Then again, I never actually USED the wrenches.

If you aren't Lou Ferrigno you can normally get away with using a palm ratchet or really high grip on a 1/4" drive ratchet and common sense to tighten most things rated in inch pounds. I suspect if the bolts are that weak the torque spec is next to nothing but it's always better to RTFM than to take the word of of an auto tech on the internet about gunsmithing. :)

They say on the instructions to go to 140. Having now done up the one remaining good bolt I would say 130 maximum. Don't go any higher.

In my case I was undoing the bolt to take the barrel off and to my knowledge the barrel was torqued at the factory so the torque wrench on my end wasn't the culprit.

Once I get that replacement bolt, that barrel is staying on. You won't see me changing barrels anytime soon.
