Ok i was wondering why my Tavor had chips on my bolt hold open tab and wear on my locking lugs ? Then i seen this video , well the SCAR has this issue and it turns out the Tavor does also too some degree.. i did a test with a loaded Pmag [with my bolt out ] and yes it does raise the bolt hold open tab a bit that causes it to rub on the bolt during firing, with a normal metal mag it does not raise at all ,, well its easy to fix the Pmags heres a video to explain the fix. so I guess I did a good thing to get tons of regular IWI steel mags instead of the pmags. I was starting to feel bad since the pmags were pretty cheap.

The P-mags are ok in the XCR I tried it and with the XCR the hold open device is in the center of the cut out so lots of room and it will not push it up.

Cutting material away will decrease the integrity of the magazine construction and aggravate its failure. Plus the rivets we are forced to have in place, l I can see the feed lips crack easier all the way down the spine.

PMAGs are prone to cracking hence MAGPUL includes the snap on covers to remedy this very issue, but I suppose breaking a magazine is still cheaper than breaking a rifle.

Not my magazine, but this illustrates the potential problem.

I'm not surprised when I hear people having problems with Pmags on a non-AR platform, which is the reason why Emags were developed. What Magpul should do at least is bring out more awareness with the Emags cuz I don't them that often and problems like this would keep coming.

I thought emags were just a profiling thing too. But the fact that they list the Tavor specifically should mean that they've addressed that issue.

I'm having trouble seeing my bolt hold open device inside my Tavor. Partially because I was looking in my living room, not my work bench with a light, but also because I dont get a nice upper-lower seperation like the Scar in the video. Any idea how I can check to make sure I've taken enough off?

Negative, the EMAGs have the exact same feed lip profile cut as the PMAGs. The only difference is that the body profile is more streamlined to allow drop free on non AR15 mag wells.

You are right. I finally found a video where I could have a good look at the Emag and it looks like it should have the same issues as the Pmag in regards to the bolt hold open interference.

I have never used my Pmags in my Tavor, I will have to have a closer look.

How about Lancer mags? I've got close to 40 PMag and EMags, and didn't want to resort to going back to metal mags. I do plan on shooting the Tavor more and didn't know this was an issue.
