PS90 .22 conversion

I think it was abandoned. Realistically you can't put a rimmed cartridge into a straight magazine and expect it to feed properly so they were talking about having big-ass Ruger 10/22 banana mags sticking out the top or side, which no one wanted.

There is a "P90" conversion you can get for the 10/22 but it's basically a bullpup conversion stock with the aesthetics of the P90, so it would be prohibited here.

I've always maintained a rimfire conversion for the P90 ought to be in .22 Magnum. Seems silly to me to buy a $2,000+ gun to shoot .22 LR out of it. At least with the Magnum your ballistics would be getting close to the 5.7mm with the added benefit that even Wal-Mart carries that ammo in stock.
 
You raise several good points but there is one thing, 5.7 hand loads cost considerably less than 22mag ammo. On the other hand, for guys like my dad who don't hand load, your conversion would be the bee's knees.
 
The 5.7x28mm was designed specifically so that it had straight walls at 90 degrees, and would work in the FNP90's odd magazine. The design of the magazine makes a .22lr conversion impractical and likely non-functional.

Well the REAL advantage to using .22 Magnum would be the unlimited capacity magazine. It would bring the P90/PS90 up to the best level it could be under our current regulations. Too bad it's not practical from an engineering standpoint.
 
I would vastly prefer .22lr over .22 mag, cost being the biggest reason. I feel like there should be a way to make the mag work in .22lr... I just don't have the time or resources to develop a .22 magazine of which I have some ideas for to make it work...
