Promag Marauder Mag on SR22... How to...

Hi there,

First i must say my riffle is a std Ruger 10-22 with a Nordic kit.
So my catch release is the std one.

You have 2 way:

1- Buy another extended catch release
2- Modify it like i did

Here what i did...It took me about 15-20 mins and it work just fine

Step 1 : remove the shell ( grab bottom and top then twist-pull )

Step 2 : mark the top of the rear plastic block AND THEN remove the rear plastic block in the rear of the mag. If its not in right direction, the mag won't enter...and you will grind the wrong side of the block ( see Step 5 )

Step 3 : make room for the release ( shell only ) i used a 1/4 sand-drum on a Dremel.
Try it without the mag, shell only

Step 4 : put back the small plastic block in the right direction. Make sure the mag will
slide before gindind the block

Step 5 : grind the plastic block until it clear the release lever. And again try it without the mag, shell
only... Until lever travel is ok

Step 6 : put this thing together and have fun...

Without the shell...

I cut mine up like that and then just pulled the plastic block out entirely. It was only temporary as my extended mag release showed up in the mail yesterday and now they fit with no problem at all.

Here's a pic... doesn't show much, but you can see the new mag release gives a TON of room. I'll try to find one of what I cut of my mags. This is on the SR-22

It's just the UTG Red/Green Dot by Leapers. Haven't had a chance to sight it in yet, but I've never shot red dot before so I'm not sure how I'll like it. Figured I'd give it a rip and if I hated it, find a scope I liked.

rather than chopping up the mag you can get a flat mag release as well that allows the mags fo fit propper with no mods

Does anyone know if this mag release will work with the promag clips with the shell? It is a promag mag release so I hope it will. But I would like to confirm before I buy it.

Edit: I am looking for a mag release similar to the maurader kit. Just a straight mag release that is compatible with the promag clips. Any suggested mag releases? Please post a pic or PM.

You will still have to remove some material from the sleeve, but the mag release will work nicely. We are working with Promag to offer a precut sleeve for other kits, but for now, just clean it up & it will work with the sleeve & mag release..
