Promags new 9-22 (Ruger) mag review.

Got both my mags in the mail the other day. Cut the slot out of the back and pulled the rear plastic block out. I had an extended mag release coming in the mail but I wanted to try them out. Just a quick clip and they worked fine. Stuffed 25 rounds in the first time on both. Felt a little stiff toward the end of loading, but nothing serious. Emptied 25 rounds out of both with no issue.

Now I have my mag release in and there is lots of room. Thanks for the great service from hical.ca.

Here's a pic with the extended mag release in.

I don't know. I cut it for my stock release so I could use them before the mag release showed up. I don't think I would have had to cut any off. They would have worked out of the box.

I am in the market for some new mags for my 10/22. I have had nothing but success with the Butler Creek Steel Lips mags and they are my basis for a good magazine. How do these new Promags stack up against the Butler Creek Steel Lips?

The new Promags will be the standard that 10/22 mags will be judged against in the future, they have replacable feed lips, feed control spring & look way better!

Whereabouts did you find/order that extended mag release? I can't seem to find one of those buggers anywhere!

*edit* I should add that ideally I would like to support a Canadian shop as opposed to ebay :)

Got a couple of these a lil while ago... for the first 3 megs could only load 22 then 24 then 25 and after that they were fine for loading took about 2 more megs at 25 for the spring to settle down and not push so hard up(stop denting cases while loading)... to be honest they work better then my friends BCs and my friend is going to be buying them soon too... plus with the sleave they look good... IMO the bc look cheap in the sr-22

I received my PWS T3 Lever mag release from Questar just before Christmas and finally had a chance to install it on my SR-22 tonight. The Promag mags now fit my SR-22 and Marauder with no problems and no alterations. Now just have to get out to the range and see how they feed :)

These mags ever getting back in stock? I'm ready to part with my hard earned $$$ after reloading the stock 10 shot mags over and over and over again.

Following this thread now for updates.

I just ordered one of the Promag 10/22 steel lipped mags. The Butler Creek one I bought sits too high in the magwell of my takedown, and won't feed due to contact issues. If this one works, then I will buy a 3 pack.

*UPDATE* I have had the takedown out 3 times, and have fired over 700 rounds through it with the promag, and other than a bit of a tight fit, it worked flawlessly.

Anyone want to buy a butler creek steel lip 25 shot mag? lol.

I have a take down as well. Very interested in hearing how well it works out for you!

We want to wait until they run 100% before we import them again, shouldnt be much longer, as they are in the final stages of testing right now! There will be 3 paks for a discount.

are the ones Allied Arms advertising 3rd gen or 2nd gen? It's confusing what's out there since they're not labelled as such. What’s different between the 3rd and 2nd gen. (BTW whenever someone asks on their forum the post gets deleted for some reason)

Does anyone have any pictures of a link to how to remove the feed lips from the gen 2 mags? I got a little overzealous with a round file trying to get the fit just right for my 10/22 and file a bit too much off the ramp and now i'm running into problems with one of the mags.

Dave, do you have any replacement feed lips available for the gen 2's i checked the site and didn't see anything, or like someone asked earlier will the gen 3 steel lips fit the gen 2 mags to retrofit them?

There will be no steel lips on any of the 9-22 mags, polymer feed lips break in easier & can be easily replaced when they finally wear out, call & we can set you up with feed lips, thanks.
