Help me choose between the 3 rifles

I would go with the Winchester. Tikka has too many cheap touches for an expensive rifle, and while the Brownings look nice, I don't think they shoot as well as they should.

Either caliber will work fine, but if I wanted a medium heavy rifle, I would consider a .375 H&H. It's just a little bit more of a step up. Not needed, but... wait.. what I am I saying? Everyone needs a medium bore!

I've never seen a Browning bolt gun that wouldn't shoot, but I have a soft spot for M-70s, even if it might be a challenge to find a shooter as Dogleg suggests. My M-70 shoots as well as any rifle should.

I've never seen a Browning bolt gun that wouldn't shoot

An avid yote hunter from S.O. bought a new Browning in 22-250.
After 2yrs of load development & mods he screwed the barrel off & trashed it.
With a good barrel it now shoots quite satifactory!
So ya I guess you could say "never seen a Browning bolt gun that wouldn't shoot"

I love the Winny look but have no experience with them

I know Tikka shoot, whether you like the stock, checkering, fit applys to all 3 guns!

Brownings shoot awesome, the gun is cheap as all hell and the price tags sky high, but they do shoot, I'll give them that.

Tikka's the same as Browning only cheaper, and pricier...

So..you buy a Model 70 yet or what? :p

Ever own or shoot an A-Bolt?

Many owners [incl myself] report excellent accuracy with them. I don't like them much because of the mag system, but they ARE good/consistant shooters.

.

I think I may have shot an A-bolt years ago, but have never bought one. Partly because they are fairly pricey and partly because I haven't read or heard of many outstanding reviews in the accuracy department. At least for their centerfire rifles. Not to say I would never buy one.

Winchester is a little different in that respect, as would never buy on of their newer lever actions, but have heard nothing but excellent reviews on accuracy.

Maybe they are made by the same manufacturer now, being owned by U.S.R.A.C.?

I owned both the Tikka and Model 70 and would go back to the 70 in a heartbeat and in .300WM to boot. With either a Nosler partition or a Barnes TSX in 165gr.
It was mentioned in a "Supergrade" and you can't go wrong right there :sniper:
I shoot neither rifles at the moment as I went the TC Icon route and I'd buy another in a heartbeat as well, just not a Venture do to recalls.
However at the time I was deciding on a new bolt the model 70 & Icon were neck and neck but the Icon pulled thru to the finish by a hair.
But having said all that, the rifle that would accompany me on a moose hunt would be my Win 88/.308.
Its a Win./win ;)

Very true Longbranch. I am definitely in that lineup. I bought an .06 Supergrade last January. Shoots some foctory ammo under an inche (5 shots) and is smooth and pretty. I like the MOA trigger. I love that gun. I can't wait to see pictures of the Alaskan let alone own one. The new Model 70's are great.

I hate the pre-64s though. Especially 300 h&H. Reason is; before I new anything about them a guy I know offered me a mint 1954 300 H&H supergrade for $2200. I really new nothing about the pre 64 thing. I was buying a different gun from him and thought why would I buy an old heavy gun for $2200??? A few days later I did some research, wanted it but it was gone. It was mint.

O.P.
I think the M70 is winning this debate pretty good, go check one out in person and see how it fits you. Featherwight, sporter and supergrade, go check each one out before buying one.
