scope on a shotgun?

I just picked up a mossberg 500 12ga with 24 rifled barrel and was thinking of putting a old 1.5 x 4.5 bushnell banner(B&L) on it for deer, what do you fellas think?

I have a 4 x fixed scope on my mossy and I would scope your slug gun. Alot more like shooting a rifle. I bought a saddle mount for my, keeps it nice and snug. My gun is a dedicated slug/turkey gun so the scope stays on. Just change the barrels and re sight in.

Sounds like a fair idea to me. I have a scope on one of my slug guns.

it would be used for deer only, no turkeys here. i watch a creek bed for deer 100yds would be max shot i take there, may consider a red dot but don't how well they work in low light, i think was would make awesome bush gun, it's d&t and have the weaver base

My mossy likes winchester partitions. They also make a great bear gun off bait. Good luck. I like these guns for deer. Accurate, cheap and they work. Good luck.

I have only ever used a red dot on my slug gun as I find it better in low light conditions and can shoot with both eyes open if something is on the run, the farthest I have shot with it was appx 135 yards and it was exactly where I aimed

I had a 4x scope on my 535ats for turkey cuz I'm to cheap to buy binoculars. I prefer my slug gun open iron rifle sights. People really laughed when I shot trap with the scoped gun. It was fun
