Where did you get it? And for how much? Is it this one on the original pic?

This one:

I got the rifle, mags, ammo and AR adapter from Reliable Gun in Vancouver. The rifle was $799, mags $29, ammo $8.50 and the AR adapter was $179. Looks something like this.

I'd like to see a video of the flimsy SU-16 butt stock assembly. Yikes. The one in the photo above has an aftermarket AR-15 tube adapter. Much better but the price is extraordinary.

if 3 gun is in the cards you really need to go with something that takes the lar mags. The sights are the same on the sub 2000 which means they are awful, however a low powered optic would work on the su-16.

The reviews of the su-16 are not glowing. Personally I would take a norinco ar clone over either of them for a carbine match.

Unfortunately it is restricted. Perhaps csa will build a non restricted length carbine. That would fit the bill for an inexpensive ,decent 223 that takes the lar mags.

Nice! at first, a guy at a shop here in qc told me about this gun and I didn't like the look at all in it's original form. But with those add-ons it's growing on me...

My momma always told me that copying is the best form of flattery!! We'll have to both hit PCDHFC at the same time and let some brass fly. I think I'll go fling some today.

I see you were on range 6.
Ya Colin wasn't there and Randy dosn't like it when I don't come up with hot coffee when it snow's.
I figure I might go up first thing tomorrow before the grey cup game. Honestly next time you are going to go up there PM me. I'll bring my rig up and show you how to make a 4lb trigger pull on this SOB and how it feels.

I've had three Mini-14s over the years, and love their simplicity and reliability. Not too heavy, nice and handy, very easy to store (especially irons only) without pistol grips, rails etc. hanging off everywhere and the stock & finish are quite durable.

I haven't fired an SU16, but having handled one I don't think I'd pay $800 for it. While it does have some attractive options and features, and may well be a lot stronger than it feels, my perception is that it just won't hold up over time. If it were $200 less, or included the AR furniture in the current price I'd probably already have one, but as it stands now I'd go with the Mini.

Yes but lock-tite isn't required :p
Oh sorry not enough Magpul items right?
:ban::owned:

That I wouldn't know... (the ISSC may finally unseat the XCR from its loctite throne, though). You could probably run the Magpul MBUS with the full-length rails, any of the stocks with the right adapter and any vertical, forward grips or rail accessories with the quad rail option. Does the Su-16 take PMAGs? Worst-case scenario you can always get a Magpul t-shirt if you need some of the kool-aid...

Ive had both and sold the mini. And I've shot some others. Even the new ones are 3 inch guns.... While my SU-16 is an inch gun. And it's half the weight, takes LAR mags and hasn't ever misfunctioned in 200 rounds. I put a Burris AR-332 on it and love the way it handles and shoots. I love it.

The new modesl shoot 3" eh? I think its the "shooter" and not the gun that is to vault.

Love the lack of details too....scope or irons? Factory ammo or hand loads? Benched or *gasp* off-hand?

Sorry Teach, didn't know I was being graded....

Scope - 3-9x40 Bushnell 3200
Factory Ammo - Usually Fed Dirty Bird. I shoot a lot.
And Benched. Off of a quad tire. It's just what I had that day....

Would you like to know more?

The SU will take any AR mag so the PMags are a def yes. The stock kit uses a standard AR tube so any MagPul stock will work with no adapter needed. I like Kool-Aid!! Cherry is my favourite.

Went for the ARMS polymer iron sights but I do have Pmags for it and yes that is a MOE stock and a RVG in the pick. Also just for flavor it rocks the new Surefire and Insight MRDS. :p
