Dragunov

AK variant
Which is ridiculous because it's not. But yeah that's the argument that was used. The Henderson case may reverse that arbitrary decision eventually.

Some have made passable SVD lookalikes from CZ-858s and SKSs, but a few very stellar conversions of SVT-40s have been done that look almost identical. I believe some even used a real SVD mag. They were all one-offs by hobbyists but maybe someone would be willing to build another for the right price.

I doubt it would make a difference. The dragunov is specifically mentioned in the legislation, it wasn't decided afterwords.

Its listed as a "variant" but its not a direct variant , it uses no interchangeable parts from an actual AK47 so its variant status is tenable at best , which is the consensus for now from what ive been reading , of course subject to Interpretation .

Yes but whether it is a variant or not it is specifically listed. There are .22s that are specifically listed as variants but are not actual variants of AR-15's or AK-47's. It is not the same legal fight as the GSG rifles or similar case.
