VZ58 - polymer vs aluminum forends?

I'm slowly building up one of my projects, the VZ58.
I was wondering how the Fab Defence polymer forends are holding up?

I will be using a red dot sight out to 200m and would like to know if the obvious applies and to steer clear of polymer.
 
Fore stock

I have put The fab, The NEA and the BC Tactical fore stocks through some serious abuse on fighting and CQB rifle courses. Thousands and Thousands of rounds.

I run the BC Tactical railed fore stock.

I have the Fab on one rifle and the NEA on the other. The Fab has held up to thousands of rounds with no issue... but I much prefer the feel of the NEA, not to mention the better top rail.

My next VZ will have the BC tactical setup though, just for kicks.
 
I have a Fab on one and the NEA on the other as well. The FAB holds up just fine, but I don't trust it to return to zero after a good cleaning and being removed. The NEA comes pretty darn close to zero after being removed and it allows you to co-witness with some red-dots (I am running the TRS25 on that one). The BC tactical one looks great, but co-witness would definitely be out. That isn't important to some folks though.
 
I didn't like my fab one because the Arms QR mount for my aim point would not clamp tight on it. I could rip the red dot right off after I lock the mount in place. And there is just too much movements for my liking. It looks good but I don't think it's good for monting on any optics.

I now use BC tactical's unit. I love it. Goes great with the rifle and absolutely solid mounting. And would maintain zero after disassemble.
 
BC Tactical rail with a Vortex SPARC was what I had in mind, just gkot a great deal going on for a FAB forend...

I do however, like their folding stock and grips.
 
Less is more.. less material, less price. And the choice of industry professionals. Best part.. Canadian made. How can you go wrong?

Anyway, the Fab furniture is pretty nice and very light and is a good choice if you're not hanging any optics off it. If you are putting any glass on the front guard, you're wasting your money. Go with a solid, metal one if you want return to zero after cleaning.

That is the folding stock and grips that I have on order.
Just need to order a BC Tactical rail, who stocks them?
 
I wish nea rail was flat at tHe bottom. I like bc tactical rail more. But bc tac was pain in the ass tomget fitted on my vz 58. Its drop in on a 858 but i spend hours sanding the rail to fit on a vz 58. Worth the work. Both are great products. I just ordered a nea ar

BC Tactical all the way! Great quality and looks awesome. Love mine and would do it again if I had to. Wanstalls stocks a lot of them and offer great service.

Why do you prefer the froward hand grip opposed to the AFG?
As I have tried my Tango Down shorty grip on this platform but I always found that my hand could never get a proper grip on it and when I would switich from carbine to pistol it would get hung up on my molle gear some times. Although I love these grips for my AR style platforms.

I liked the AFG on the VZ, but I swapped everything out to standardize all of my platforms.

I don't 'grip' them, I use them more as hand stops. The few times that I need to grip them while shooting (side prone or leaned corners) it gets the job done where the AVG didn't.
