I purchased a new Winchester Model 70 Sporter in 325WSM exclusively for moose. I would like to know your opinions on two choices of bullets I have for reloading. For now I am only going to purchase one brand. Of the two what one would you start with if both were equally accurate? Shots being 400 yds and under. All opinions are greatly appreciated.

Barnes TTSX 160gr
Swift A-Frame 200gr
 
I load the 200gr accubond in mine, but I would have no problem using either of those two bullets you mentioned. The ttsx will shoot a bit flatter, and will be plenty tough. I don't think the 325 will push the heavier bullets fast enough to require the toughest premium bullets.

What made you decide on only those two bullets?

Curiosity mostly. I have loaded Accubonds and TSX bullets in other calibers and have access to others including Partitions and Lapua. Looks like I won't be getting a direct answer regarding the two I have mentioned. I might have to hold off on my order and do some reconsidering.
 
I'm a "heavy for caliber" bullet guy. The only reason to go big is to go heavy too. You can shoot a .300 caliber 200 grain bullet of the same construction just as fast from several of the .300 Mags, with a much better Sectional Density and ballistic coefficient, and better trajectory.

I don't think you gain anything over a .300 Mag by using the 200 grain bullets in the larger diameter. If you use the larger diameter round to throw heavier bullets, you can get real differences in performance on game.

I agree, I am only going by hear say when it comes to the Swift A-Frames. If price is an indicator of on game performance then I should be doing well at $71.00/50. I certainly hope my rifle likes them.
 
Mine is pushing 200 grain accubonds at a little over 2900 fps with a cci 250 and 64 grains of h 414. Large animals don't run very far when hit with these.
 
Why would you use a .325 to push bullets no heavier than you can with a .300 Win and at the same velocity? Use the heavier for caliber bullets, or you gain nothing over the smaller calibers - in fact you lose in ballistic coefficient, and sectional density.
