Coyote gun.. Buying one in the next two weeks

Up to you.

I use my Savage predator Max1 in 243 as my goto coyote rifle. With 70 gr varmint (nosler) pills, it does blow big holes in them, but keeps the bullet straight and lotsa energy past 300 yards.

I found that my 223 got a little light and the 50 gr pills did not resist the wind as much.

Under 200 yards however, just as deadly as my 243, but better for the hides.

I'll be staying under 200 yards for sure, I'm going to take care of the ones coming around our property, then see if the neighbour who owns 200+ acres of wood lot will let me in there, too!

Savage axis .223 with superformance 53gr(groups amazing in my rifle too) works very well for me. they either drop right now or run 20 feet. All the ones Ive got so far are an entrance whole and no exit.

Also get a timmey adjustable trigger from western gun parts in edmonton you will not regret it. Makes the gun a lot better. Put those triggers in both my axis guns (.223 and .30-06)

Maybe that's a good idea. Maybe one should look at how much that adds to to the cost of the rifle (don't forget installation cost if you can't/won't do it yourself) and compare the total to the price of one of the Savage models with an Accutrigger before deciding.

The stock on the Axis looks weird to me. It could be just that it's getting away from the traditional lines I am used to but because of that I would want to handle one first to check the fit and feel before I bought it.

No need to worry about paying for an instal as its a clip and a pin remove the old trigger put the new one in reinstall the pin and clip then adjust it. Take 15 min to do yourself. If you dont like the accutrigger its a great option. Me I dont like the accutrigger on my 93r17 but live with it

Found out my local gun store has them for $399 + HST, around $449 out the door. I'm spending around $50 more, but I'd be supporting a local company, and it gives me a chance to hold it, and cycle it before I buy!

I think that is sound thinking. You are always doing a good thing to support local economies, and local stores often provide very good service (like letting you touch stuff) compared to the huge box store chains, or online purchases. The few extra dollars can be a good investment.

Frontier Firearms has earned a good reputation among the Gunnutz and they are a site sponsor, so they deserve our support, but so does your local gunshop if they are good. $50 extra on that price is something I'd be willing to contribute to keeping a local gunshop going.

Mine with a riflebasix trigger shoots real nice.1/2 inch at 200 with 55gr vmax and 25.2gr H335 powder.Hundreds of rounds through it with no trouble and nice light gun to pack around.

That sounds pretty good. I wish I could shoot like that.

@KDX.Thanks.It is a real nice shooting gun for the money.Makes it easy(24x scope makes it a little easier too...)

I have one in .270, for the price its a great gun, i really like it. But like a previous poster said you should handle one first, some of my friends have mine and didn't like how it felt.

For coyotes though i like my savage model 10 .22-250
