Guess?
I really hemmed and hawed about this purchase...why do I need another one I kept asking myself. I don't shoot THAT often, but I love the M14 platform...and I was going to have my 22" cut...but why? I could have both....plus I am running short on 7.62x51!!

What did my wife say? Absolutely nothing! It is my money and it is none of her business....Yup, she doesn't know!! ;) :D All my rifles look the same to her anyway....:D

CANPAR dropped everything off this morning....and I like what I see. Don't have time to clean it up properly now, but I will later. I also got an M14Doctor oprod spring guide yesterday, so the timing was perfect. Now I am waiting for a UTG rail I bought on eBay.

I found that the rifle fits into the plastic stock very tightly, but I had no issues removing and reassembling everything. It also fits tightly into my USGI stock.

Now, do I drop the shorty into my M14Doctor stock and put my 22" back into the USGI camo stock (I may repaint), or leave them as you see here...Decisions...

I just put an NEA spring guide in my shorty...it functions perfectly and seems far more solid than the stamped original piece. Where did you get your GI camo stock? I find the original plastic stock is okay, but it may not do well in the cold...and something nicer would be better...

I painted the CAMO stock when I first got my 22". Was going for a German Tropentarn look. The stock has sat in my closet since acquiring M14Doctor's stock. They may just switch now, as I like the pistol grip on the shorty. The bipod will probably go with the camo stock too.

Well, I finished cleaning it up, and I also knocked the flash hider off without any issues, removing the set screw of course. The tack welds were almost non-existent.

I just received a UTG mount today, and after installing it, I discovered that my barrel may not be properly indexed....Hard to see initially, but with the handguard off, I can see it better now. I believe it needs to come to the right, as looking down the sights. I am assuming you need the proper tools to index a barrel correctly?

Mine is also slightly left. As it will be in a TROY S.A.S.S. chassis sans sight, it does not matter. I still managed to get decent groups open sights with it on Saturday.

Regards,
Henry;)

Thanks Henry. I am not planning on using the stripper guide mount from the UTG kit. just the barrel mount. I may just dremel out the rear mount hole to make it fit.

Mine just got dropped off today!

Very impressed, other than my bolt is catching and doesn't want to close all the way. Likely a small burr that needs to be rounded or some such thing. Havn't inspected that aspect of it too closely yet, had to get it into some grease first!
