This weekend's deer hunting trip, pics and video

So I just spent the last few days battling the winds and chasing mulies.
We near froze our toes off glassing from the hill tops one morning. Word got around to the bucks that we had no tag for them and that they were free to come check us out. I finally came across a doe that was hanging out with a buck with a drop tine. I'm pretty sure it was the guy on the right in the second picture below.
Thankfully there was a bit of snow on the ground as it made it much easier to track her through the bush. She was hit solidly but can easily make it into the thickest cover she could find. Watch the vid in HD at full screen for best results.

I'm really trying to kick the filming to the next level as I realized that mixing 2 of my favorite things, hunting and photography, really adds a huge element of satisfaction to things.

And it relly gives you some great memories to go back on later. Photographs are great but it would be nice to look back at some of your hunts on film 15 years up the road.

i was out west twice for whitetails and we found those mulies are as dumb as partridge..you can darn near walk up to them..probably good for girls to shoot..

Awesome video, Can really tell the quality of work you are putting into it! What kind of camera are you using, it looks very crisp and clear even at high magnifications.

For the record, mule deer are not as dumb as people make them out to be.

There is a huge difference between a woodland animal like a whitetail and a plains animal like the mule deer. Especially in areas where hunter pressure is very high. Totally different hunting tactics required.

ok serioulsy...here was our hunting tactics..drive up to one - about 50 yards...get out of truck..shoot..load dumb mulie...drive away. true story. and the rest of the week we were able to EASILY get within bow range of almost all the mulies we saw. i have photos of these things standing there with a dumb look on their face while i took several photos...then they casually hopped away..

BUT, in your defence i will say that we never got close to any BIG mulies...these were all about 150 to maybe 180" of bone which is nothing for a mulie..
