Thank you for one of the most enjoyable build reports I have seen for any platform. That is one good looking rifle and I look forward to the range report!

Yup, it's pretty cool to see some guys pull out all the stops with this M14 addiction. Great thread and fantastic build, she's turnin into a work of art ;)

you have got y'self a fine rifle. excellent job on it,amazing what a new finish and a few key parts changes can do! i am sooo jealous! how does she shoot? do you mount a scope?

Haven't got it out yet, was hoping the NM gas cylinder would show up before I went out. No plans for a scope... yet, I like the open sights so I think I'll run them for a bit first.

Hahaha perhaps...

*WOW!* I'm not a Norc fan, but it's pretty impressive what you'd done! How many hours do you have into this project? Are you going to stick with iron sights or mount some optics at some point down the road?

I'm not a Norc fan either, even now I still won't ever buy one. The only reason I ended up with this was because the availability of M14 receivers is next to nothing. The Springfield M1A was also never an option, waaay over priced and I couldn't get past the cast receiver for that price point.

That being said, this half Norc, Half Springfield hybrid has earned a spot in the safe. All weak points have been upgraded and/or refinished, there really is no "cheap" left on the rifle anywhere. For what I'm into the rifle for, it definitely represents good value and a quality piece.

As far as hours go, actual refinishing work was about 6-8 if you include paint and park, assembly was about 3-4 total. Overall not that much considering what the outcome was. Right now, I'm guna run with irons, if down the road I run optics it will be an ARMS mount w/Vortex PST Viper 40mm

Thanks for all the comments guys, once I get the NM gas cylinder, I'll get some range time in and post the final results.

I really like the choice you went with for a stock and rail system. Wood would be sacrilege on this setup!
