The handling of this rifle in the bush was a dream. Outstanding piece of hunting equipment.

- Short, fast mounting
- Accurate (1.5" at 100yd with 168gr Winchester Ballistic Silvertips off a bipod and left hand under the mag).
- Rather than the factory sling route, set it up with two Troy rail mounts and a Magpul MS2
- Trijicon 3x9 w/ triangle post

End result depended more on luck, of course :)

Also some trail cam shots from early November of the same buck.

That's a big buck. How did the Winchester Silvertip in .308 perform? What grain did you use? I used the same cartridge in .223 (45 gr) with my Tavor on a Buck earlier this month. Also, were you sit hunting or pushing?

Great buck!! Nice to see it taken with a "black" rifle as well, proves they are useful hunting.

Exactly.

Flawlessly, though 168 grains might have had something to do with it :) I was still hunting, shot was quartering away. Entry made it between ribs, hit both lungs and exit was out just behind the shoulder. He only made it about 15 feet and expired, completing the ethical harvest.

Thank you gents.

Did the bullet expand or explode? What was the size of the exit wound?

Excellent buck, Congrats!

Hope to see more pics of bucks taken with black rifles. What was the distance please? Was the buck moving or standing when you shot it?

75 yards +/- 5. Was walking in to a rub when he caught me turn my head, froze for a few minutes while I tried not to blink (old wive's tale? I think not, them and turkeys can see it). Turned to the right and started to walk perpendicular to his previous path. I drew a bead on him when his head passed behind a small birch.

Wow great buck! How much did it weight? Must weight more then the 2 small buck we caught....

I really like the win ballistic silver tip in 168gr. Me it didnt expand much but they were like 110 and 120 lbs

Thanks for posting this. It would be great if we could get an article in a national magazine, like The Outdoor Edge, on the subject of modern hunting rifles. T.J. Schwanky are you listening?

How about sending a picture and write up in to dwebb@outdoorgroupmedia.com and they might publish it in the Outdoor Edge. We need more acceptance of modern autoloaders in sport hunting.

Great buck. Now, send the top picture along with your hunting story to Nathan Cullen and Jack Harris. Show them that "bad, scary guns" are indeed used for hunting. Maybe it'll make them think twice before opening their fat yaps again.

Again, congrats.

Great photos! Excellent job. I my hunt trip with the RFB got cut a little short this year due to an injury, but for at least one day I took advantage of the ambi capabilities, and swapped it over to southpaw. No deer for me though, so I'll be heading out with the bow next week. Congratulations on the awesome buck!
