It is really hard to find reviews on this rifle. Only video on youtube is a 30 sec video with one shot. Does anyone here have one or know of a video review of this specific target rifle?

Having shot Target Rifle for almost 20 years here in Canada the US and a few trips to shoot in the UK, I have only ever seen one target rifle built on a Browning action.

I'm a frequent Bisley visitor, as well as other mainly-target ranges, and I've never seen an A-Bolt Browning-based target rifle of ANY kind. Mind you, that's only out of the many thousands I HAVE seen - I'm sure there are thousands that I've missed.

I know of two different folks who compete in F/Tr with new Abolt target rifles. Both rifles seem to shoot very well, and their owners are happy with them.

I was asking the same question myself a while back, when i thougut of browning rifles i didn't think target rifles. But i now shoot along side 3 gentlemen that are shooting them and they are producing amazing results for factory rifles. they shoot 80gr bergers and varget powder. 1/2 moa easily, all day long. @ 100 yrds.

Sure is a nice looking rifle. One thing I did read was someone suggesting that the stock wasn't long enough for the barrel. Said it was a balance issue when using a bipod. The person who also said this never held one.. lol so I'd like to hear from someone who owns it.

I have one here with me and i know what they talking about being a little short in the forstock but they sit very well in a proper front rest at the bench. they wouldn't make a great varmint gun.

Ftr

There is a fellow that shoots in FTR here from BC , and he uses one and has won quite a few matches with it , I have scored for him a few times and the rifle is a tack driver , i witnessed him shoot a lot of Vee's last year at Volks out at the 600 mark , i believe he shoots the SMK .185's The rifle is bedded and has a night force on it beside that its stock and it has put many full customs to shame at the matches. The Browning definetly is a shooter in the rite hands:cheers:

Browning and Target have never really gone together. Nor have I ever heard anything good about building one for accuracy. But you never know until you try. Dependant on price and risk. I may prove to be a winner.

Personally I would buy a Savage. For the same price you can get a more specialized rifle for the target shooting you want to do. Also once that first barrel is worn out you can buy a pre-fit barrel and screw it on yourself.

My girlfriend has been shooting a Savage Model 12 benchrest for 6 months. Its chambered in 6mm Norma Bench Rest. I just got mine. After having it on order for 8 months. Mine is a 12 F-class also in 6mmbr.

Personally I have never seen one as a target gun only. But I happened across an old browning for a good price and figured why not. If it works great, if not then I will use it for hunting.

Trying never hurts, except the bank account :D

I'm not sure about the Savage rifles. I hear good and bad. One guy in a forum said a gun smith called them "Salvage" for a reason. My Dad remembers them when he shot... to be the cheap of cheap. Sako/Tikka seems to be the way to go. Or Remington because of history and accessories.

Not with that specific rifle, but I have a browning set up as a target rifle (custom barrel and stock), and my bro has an A-bolt stainless, with quite a bit of load development he is getting excellent results, and shoots it out to 600 yards

I know nothing about the a-bolt target but I shoot an A-bolt Medallion in 270 as my hunting rifle and I have no issues grouping sub MOA with factory el-cheapo winchester power points

Next time you are surfing the net look into the successes of Team Savage when it comes to F Class Competitions. If you are looking for an entry level rifle and are set on something new, Savage would be a good choice. If you don't mind used I would look at a use target rifle like a Sportco, Musgrave, Witchita or a Swing if you can find one.

I kinda snickered when I first saw one of these rifles in Ottawa last summer. Then this guy kicked my a$$ at 600...

I hear what your saying the guy was kicking everyones ass out here at the matches last year and he left the browning sticker on the barrel you know the yellow label you see on the barrel when its in the rack in a gun store its an amasing shooter for a stock rifle.

I have 2 Savage model 12's and my girlfriend has one. They all shoot very well out of the box.

Remember what you hear on the internet isn’t all 100% true. There are people that hate savage and they try to steer people from savage all the time. I'm not sure why.

My gun smith said that my girlfriend and I were crazy wanting to buy a savage. He told us about bad barrels and such. Now he has seen our results he is very impressed. He said that they have had major improvements in the last 10 years. I wouldn’t know I haven't been shooting near 10 years.

Now back to the original topic.
