Just received my K31 from TradeEx and have to say that Anthony delivers promptly with great service.
Can't tell much from a photo when viewing online, but once it arrived and I stripped it apart it becomes apparent why so many appreciate these rifles.
By my serial# it was made in 1935 and from all the info I've gathered from the internet it's never been refurbed. Gun is Good+ condition. Only very minor dings in the walnut stock and bluing worn at the top of the receiver, bottom of mag and front sight ears. I can see if I do refinish the stock that it will show nice tiger stripes and good grain, but unless the receiver is reblued it would look out of place.
Bore is in excellent shape and to be honest the bolt assembly looks like it was hardly used. I'm beginning to think the rifle may have been carried more than shot causing the worn blue on the receiver top. Bayonet lug area shows no blue wear. No markings under the tang or receiver and it's all matching.
The only thing I'm not sure about is the trigger weight. First stage comes up normally and smooth, second stage somewhat crisp at 5 lbs. I've heard that trigger weight ranges around 3 - 4lbs. with these rifles. Is 5 lbs considered normal? I really want to get this down to at least 3.5 - 4lbs. 5 lbs is just a bit too heavy for my tastes.
Anything I should know before getting the fine stones out to just polish the sears? Will the trigger spring break if I try to reduce tension?
I will take pics later and range test the rifle with handloads in better weather.
