Is it just me or are these new "shorty" M305 batches having a lot of issues?

Just seems that there are quite a few threads relating to glitches/ issues these days.
I don't remember seeing anywhere near as many threads with the 2009 full size batches.

Maybe it's just me ;)

Um,

I don't think so... All I've heard was the usual.

Op Rod Alignment was common, Indexing Issues were rare and Fit & Finish issues were typical.

The only real thing I noticed on mine was the barrel taper was different so my Ultimak rail had to be modified a little bit, nothing serious, just time consuming is all. Other then that I've had no major issues.

Mine seems to be fine. Though I am no expert >.> . Gonna test iron sights at 100 yards sunday, if I can find binoculars or a spotting scope to help me with zeroing it in.

Most of what I've seen posted and the many emails I've received, reveal the common insufficiencies in assembly and detail. For the most part, a cruise through CGN and the sticky section at the top of the MBR forum will assist many to massage their rifle into shape.
I've had a great many folks contacting me in hopes of sending their shorty in for my standard accurizing package and NM guide rod upgrade. The rifles coming in for work seem to be the usual fair from china ;) , but better cuz they're already short :D

I would think that you are seeing that many issues posted about these because of the massive pre-order.
Which means that many people got their rifles in a very short time laps while the regular M14 have been around for a while and issues pop once and then because there are already so many on the market they don't sell as quick.

Hope I was clear enough to get my point understood, rough week :p

I agree, there are a large number of new shorty M14 owners all of a sudden.

Good point.

My norinco m14 has had a problem. I was hunting when I pulled back on the operating rod to chamber a round, and the bolt wheel came out of the guide in the operating rod. so the rod sprang back coward leaving the bolt open. Needless to say I walked back to camp to have a lookers at what was going on. I ''fiddled around'' with it and It went back in. Did not shoot It since, but I was cleaning it after the trip and the same thing happened. again it was easy to fix, but does anybody know what is goin on? I bought it in the summer new

I may be imagining things, but it seems to me as though receiver geometry quality is going downhill on the more recent imports. Almost as though they were "seconds" back during the production runs in the 90's, but I have no empirical proof of this.
