Does anyone have a NcSTAR 3-9x42 Tactical Mark III scope with or w/o the laser? Do you have it mounted on a .22 cal or larger? How do you like it? How do you like their product?

Let me know. I thinking of getting one for my Mossberg Tactical 22 I just recently purchased.:sniper:w:h:

Thanks for the input.

I dont know, another dealer recommended them and I just looked them up on the internet. Thats why I'm asking for comments.

I liked the looks of the one scope with a Holo sight attached to the top.

To be fair, I just had a local shop's salesman also do the same thing. I called asking if they were a Vortex dealer, looking for a Strikefire, and when he said no, he asked what pricepoint the Strikefire was. I told him a couple of hundred bucks, and he said they had some really nice NcStar red dots at that price range.

Wasn't really intered in putting a NcStar on my new AR though. Have one coming for my Marauder...but I wanted something nicer for my AR.

NcSTAR optics are complete junk.

Save for a bit longer, and pick up a Bushnell, or a Vortex. Those seem to break less often.

To be fair I shot hundered of rounds through my Norc AR with the NCstar scope with quick release mount, it didn't break, the frustration was it's inabilty to hold zero when taken off and on. As it won't fit into my safe with the scope on, it had to go. Used the same scope on my daughters 10/22 and works fine when left on. I just removed it because she had issues with the eye relief distance and I needed a scope that went further back.

Who sells the Vortex scope in Canada? I seen this one previously on the web and was interested, seen it on Optic Planet's website for $149. EDIT-I just did a search of CGN Sponsors.....this is what a may go with now. I was kind of hoping for a 3-9x40 with a Holo style sight attached, but the Vortex has me interested again.

Any opinions on the Burris Tactical scope - XTR 1-4x24 with Fastfire II and P.E.R.P. mount? Anyone know approx. costs? Probably well over $1000 - too much for the 22 tactical project.

Cost is not an issue for the scope for me as I use the Leupold VX3 scopes on a majority of my rifles. I was just trying to keep the price down on this Mossberg Tactical 22 project, as I still want to do another new hunting rifle semi-custom build off a Sako m75 rifle this winter.

There are people out there that have never even tried NCstar but will bad mouth the product on pure hear say. The product is cheap and some do work great. Why pay more a little more for a scope with a different brand but is made by the same company. Never had a problem with a NcStar product on a .22.

NC star scopes should be ok on a rim fire, but there are other scopes that I would prefer in the same price range.

Recommend a few?? I was now looking at a Vortex Strikefire, or maybe going with a Burris FF II 2-7x35 or Bushnell Trophy XLT 1.5-6x42 with 4A reticle and mounting a Holo-style sight using the Burris Tactical style mounts.

As mentioned, just trying to PIMP OUT the pkg a bit on the Mossberg Tactical 22 I bought, w/o breaking the bank for a plinking gun.

For scopes (not red dot), I have a Nikon Buckmaster for my .17 HMR, and I'm very happy with it. Mine is probably more magnification than you're looking for though...I have the 6-18x40SF. There's a 4-12x40 that looks like it might suit your needs also.

If an adjustable objective is not important to you, the new Pro Staff look really nice, and now have a 98% light transmission rating.

got a 3to12 ncstar on a m14 ive put over 1000rnds through it with no problems wouldnt trust it on a hunting rifle for mission critical work.

I got a free NCStar scope from a friend 3-9x40, which he had never mounted (back in 2005, I think). I have firsthand experience with the craptastic product put out by NCStar. I've also seen and heard of enough problems, that I put them on the same level as replica "Airsoft" accessories on a real firearm.

Only I'd be willing to bet that some of the airsoft replica stuff is better made. You summed it up nicely, when you said that "some do work great". I prefer to not play a lottery with crappy odds, when it comes to my optics.

But hey - if people have NCStar scopes that they like? All the more power to them. I'd never recommend the brand to anyone, is all.

Their air gun scopes are nice for a cheap price scope. My benjamen sheridan 20 cal is a scope killer
So I tried the $20 4x ncstar airgunner and its a great scope. So a 22 it should work. Try barska scopes for cheap price point
