Savage 110 243, what would you pay?

A guy I know is selling a Savage 110 in 243 with original cheap scope and original Savage leather sling. Bluing is in good condition as is the wood stock with a few minor marks. I'm not overly interested in the rifle but I was wondering what you fella's think is a fair price for it. He's asking $300 with a soft case.... Am I correct in thinking that's a little too high or am I off base. thanks, DL

Only because I know very little about the 110. I forgot to mention it's about 20 years old. Has no mag or floor plate. What is a rough value of it? Sorry about forgetting to mention the age as that probably makes a difference in the value.

still 300 is a good price. there is quite a bit you can do with these old savages, and the stevens 200 is a pretty close copy from the 110/10 actions (with a different stock of coarse). my dad has one in 30-06 and he loves it. sure a mag floor plate or DM would be nice, but as he says "a classic carrying a classic" and i don't think he would ever want to "trade up". i'm looking for a deal like this myself.
 
I'd take an old 110 over a brand new Stevens 200 or an Axis anyday of the week.

They were built better with stronger parts and not the crap cheesy stuff they make the 200's and Axis out of.
 
My savage 110 .243 is the most accurate hunting rifle in my fleet. Shoots under a half inch with 70 gr TNT's. My favorite coyote gun.
 
I think he means Model 110,...up until maybe 10 years ago at most all Savages were built on the long action 110 receiver....they did make a shorter action back in the 60's and 70's but it was longer than todays short action but shorter than the regular 30-06 length 110....and $300 is a good price.
 
I've always wanted a 110, but in left hand. (perhaps it's a 110C, that I had in mind) never did get one. I'd say $300. is a steal of a deal. go for it! ;)
