I know a couple of years ago Marstar had a bunch, but where could I find some today? From what I understand, they are not classified as firearms, and I don't want a neudered one if U can help it, preferably larger than 60mm. I realize I can never fire it, but it would be a great center piece in the man cave!

Any ideas?

Not hard to build one out of high-pressure oilfield pipe: main tube, base reinforce, heavy-pressure bullplug, set of telescoping legs, crossways bit of 1-inch across the base plug for elevation...... hardest part to make is a seviceable baseplate.

Original Stokes model used altered 18-pdr projos propelled by 12-bore blanks, or so I was told, once upon a time, by a man who used them. All-ways fuse was developed because the shells didn't run straight, sometimes landed on their sides.

You can have a lotta fun for 50 or 60 bucks.

I have NO idea as to legality; I just know that it HAS been done.

No, I don't have one.

Sure look neat, though.

Sounds like a big bomb waiting to happen. OP are you looking for a collectible or are you wondering if you can get a really working one. Cause I assure you that you can never get to use working mortar as a civilian.

I'd love to have just an empty artillery shell. A big 155mm howitzer or something similar. Either empty or re-capped with a false shell would be a neat piece to have

I remember a gunnutz making a repro black powder artillery cannon and posting pics of it in the milsurps forum.

The Fort Garry Horse had (still has?) a Christmas tradition of a mock battle between the Junior Officers and the SNCOs on the parade square. The officers had a WW2 German Raketenwerfer 43 and the SNCOs a working incomplete Goliath in which was mounted a fixed metal tube. A sargent would sit in the back of the Goliath and drive the 'tank' in a rather jerky fashion towards the 'enemy' anti tank gun. The two sides would then shoot toilet paper rolls at each other launched with thunderflashes.

The ORs and Senior Officers would cheer their side from the balconies. Lots of fun and good 'spirits'! Maybe I should put my helmet on.

I belive that 155 howitzer has bag charge and no case. have to be a 105

That'd work, I wasn't sure what sizes I'd seen when I was last at the ArmyNavyAirforce Vets for a beer. Perhaps I could buy one and convince the wife it's just another vase for flowers so it could sit on the dining room table :D

would you be making reference to the Czech Mortars? 82mm? That little sale of those got wildly unpopular with the USDHS. They were quick to point out that every assclown that received Soviet Bloc equipment to train terrorists on used these. Theoretically you could park one of these at the boarder like at St. Catharines and lob mortars into the Niagara Power Plant..etc. I know Marstar had to deal with these as the RCMP started making a fuss about ITAR over them. It was the same time they were trying to import the CZ beltfeds and this brought increased scrutiny on them.

collectors source has them but be expecting to pay a pretty penny depending on what your looking for. I used to have a 4 inch 18th century morter and used to fire it, you could lob a soupcan out of her and she'd make the ground move! what a brute.

Correct. Now moved out of bags and into Styrofoam(can't remember the proper name after night shift) encased in low and high charge....no more excess bags to burn

I think the Leopard 2 fires a cased 120mm, but don't quote me

Try scrap dealers near bases with Tank units if you want big brass......but a 105 blank casing makes a really neat ashtray.......so I've heard:)

Whoa there guys, I'm not looking to fire it, nor do I need intructions to build artillery or ieds. I was looking for something like Marstar's 82mm as a conversation piece, a novelty with military significance. Now that we are all on an fbi watch list for discussing building mortars, let's get back on track!:p I saw the Collectors source 60mm, pretty cool, I'd prefer larger, and it needs a baseplate. Anyone willing to part with their czech 82mm? After all, the wife probably want's you to get rid of that ugly chunk of metal, and I'll give it a good home.

Mortar is easy, but where do you get ammo and then a place to shoot it. :D

there are about 9 collectors of artillary in canada. i know one with a large collection and i will tell you how to contact him. there used to be an importer on the west coast with 82mm mortars, 122mm howitizers, 88 mm coastal defence guns( german 88's) and 50mm and 75 mm pak anti tank guns. he sold his stuff and was never heard of again. pm me for the info. if my buddy has one he might part with it or he can tell you where to find one. they are not firearms in canada.

What the hell is wrong with 60mm, not big enough? Never fire it:confused: You lack imagination!
