[WARNING TAVOR OWNERS] I found a problem using Pmags in the Tavor, could harm rifle.

You'd think Magpul would just fix their magazines.

Why would magul fix something that isn't broke. The problem is with the rifles not the mags. The mags were designed for AR15' not Scars and Tavors. For Magpul to fix the non existant problem unless they specifically advertize that they fit these other rifles would probably mean retooling or possibly hand work to each mag. That would add to production cost there are Accountants and shareholders to answer to of course. Corporations can be like Government it does not have to make sence it is all about quarterly proffits.

While I agree with you on the PMAGs, I believe that there is a huge issue with the EMAGs. Apparently they experience the same problem, but the EMAG was specifically designed for non-AR platforms.

"The EMAG (Export MAGazine) is a lightweight 30-round 5.56x45 NATO polymer magazine that features a number of aesthetic and functional changes from the original PMAG®. While EMAG remains 100% compatible with the AR15/M16 platform, its unique geometry is optimized for foreign-made weapons such as the HK 416, British SA-80, Beretta ARX-160, IMI Tavor, and others."

This excerpt was taken directly from the Magpul store. I purchased 10 EMAGs specifically for use with my Tavor.

Magpul should either fix this problem, or change the description on the website. I'm going to contact the retailer I purchased these from to see if there is some kind of resolution. I don't like the idea of a $30 mag adversely affecting a $3000 rifle.

With a 5 round mag restriction, why are people even using them? Just go lar15 10 round pistol mags and problem solved + twice the fun!

The P-mags are ok in the XCR I tried it and with the XCR the hold open device is in the center of the cut out so lots of room and it will not push it up.
Good to know, athough by bolt catch is well worn for no reason somehow, and will not hold open on the last shot with pmags only.

To some, the appearance of the small 10 round mags bares the same resemblance of a #### with no balls.

I had a look at this on my tavor and noticed 2 things:

1. Pmags don't cause the exact same problem shown in the video since the tavor bolt hold open is in the center of the mag.

2. With 1 only one round left in the mag, the follower is what's pushing up the bolt hold open. It causes it to protrude slightly above the aluminum receiver. I tested Pmag, 10 round LAR, generic AR-15 steel 30 rounder. The only ones that do not have any protrusion are the IWI mags.

I don't think the problem in #2 is as severe as what the OP is reporting, but I am concerned that only the IWI mags definately do not cause the bolt hold open to protrude in any case.

Can anyobody else confirm this?

I do not think the problem is as bad in the Tavor as the SCAR .. But when i insert a loaded pmag my bolt hold open moves up a bit, with a IWI mag it does not .. I will post a macro pic tomorrow of my bolt open tab and you can see the damage on it .. the round count on my rifle is about 1500 using only pmags and LAR mags..
