LMT LM308 MWSE optics recommendations.

The nightforce 2.5x10NXS is what I'm using on mine. It is perfectly suited to this rifle and it's intended role (if that matters to you).

This is what I would use, in combination with an offset T1.

The "extreme spread" 1-8s and 1-10s seem to have pretty unforgiving eye relief. A 2.5-10 is a very functional scope, and canting the rifle for the odd close in shot you might make with a MWS would be fast and effective.

Thanks for all the good info.

I decided on the Elcan Spectre DR 1.5-6X for this rifle and if I really like the LMT, I might build a second one and set it up as a long range.

After sitting up half the night thinking about my decision to go with the Elcan 1.5-6X, I really thought alot about the potential of the LMT 308 MWSE. I went into DS Tactical this afternoon and asked the guys to cancel my order and did some shopping. I went with the Vortex Razor HD 5-20X50 with the EBR-2 MRAD reticle and a Aimpoint T1 on a Predator offset 45 degree mount. I looked at the nightforce as well but the Vortex was just too good to pass up. I will post some pics ASAP and I'm going to zero it in on Monday...range report to follow.

Well the 9.5x actual power will easily take you to 900m and the 2.5x power means that you don't need a red dot, but if big bulky glass is what you are after, go for it!:p

Ok, that hurt my little feelers:(....
Now I'll have to go get another precision rifle to mount this Vortex on and start looking for a NF!!!!

I hope the kids like KD for breakfast, lunch, and dinner....

I have a 20" SS barrel on mine. I'll be putting one of my Zeiss Conquest 6.5-20x 50mm with Rapid Z 1000 yard reticles on a Burris quick release PEPRE mount. For accuracy rifles higher quality scopes and with more magnification are great. Especially when you're firing 1) On a range, 2) You're shooting $1-$2 per round match grade ammo.

I'm not planning on being "Tacticool" with mine. I just want it to shoot well. Let's face it carrying it from my car to the range isn't really that onerous for me to require light and smaller optics. I can use whatever I want. ;). I won't be walking around Afghanistan all day with mine. Frankly I won't be using this setup for off hand shooting either. It'll be off a bench, or with a bipod.

Just put that scope on a quick release setup and you're laughing. You can use it on an RFB, Tavor, AR15 or AR10 rifles. Quick release is a good thing.

On a side note the New Zealand DM version has an 18" SS barrel and they I seem to recall are going 4-14x variable scope.

I think the Brits made a good choice optics wise and barrel length for their needs. But I prefer true DMR or better. :D

Acog topped with RMR rocking this on my AR, amazing setup no levers to hit for the transition from CQB to range and it's light and compact, no batteries either. Trijicon does make different power acogs with 7.62 drop reticles.

Meh. Slap a 20" SS on that rifle and don't look back. Or see what your 16" one will do. You might not want to change it out. The 2.5-10x NF scope would be a good match for the 16" barrel. But... are you really going to be using this like a normal AR15? I don't think so. Traditionally the AR10 rifles in use have been DM rifles. With the cost of decent 308 ammo, accuracy is king. At the range we don't have the other concerns the military has. We can have as much optic power as we want. I won't be shooting mine below 100 yards anyways. That's just a waste of good match grade 308 ammo.

If this rifle were non restricted then I could see the 2.5-10x being a good choice out in the bush. But for target shooting/DMR 20x is excellent.

I'm looking forward to your range report.

Here's the AR10 thread. You can see what others are using. There's an LMT at the end now as well.

Here's how my AR10 based rifles are configured. Absolutely no regrets with the higher magnification optics.
