when I told them I was picking my Jungle Carbine Enfield,,,,

I picked up quite a few the last few years. Rather than a bunch of SKS's or the like packed away for a rainy day I went with the No5 Mk1's....

All those dead axis power soldiers can't be wrong... (Not with JC's but you get my point)

I'm with Cantom on this one, also because of the 3rd reason:

3) I can get a 1" group at 200 yards with my 1941 LB and a 1 1/2" group at 300 yards...

I love my LB lol

+1.

^^^

I surprised my father and best friend when I showed up with a No1 MK 3for hunting this year.

Pops asked what it was, (I was amazed he didn't know) and I told him and showed him all of their virtues. He was impressed. I only have a commercial hunting rifle for token value.

My go to is my 2 No 1's.

I love my little handy Jungle Carbine, but for hunting/ precise shooting (excluding collectors value considerations) I think i'd take my No1. I personally prefer the notch and blade over peep for accuracy. May just be my eyes and cheek weld, but it bothers me that the front sight ears on my No5 and No4 just don't sit neatly on the edges of the peep. Now for a good peep, my garand.... lol.

I've had my share of jungle carbines but...I prefer Long Branch rifles for 2 good reasons.

1) They're Canadian made.

I was at OSS

back in the 90's when they brought in the crates of Long Branch JC's that were found in the old subbasement during the tear down....it was a sight to behold. NIB (well brown wax paper) wood was so bright it was nearly white.

IMO, twenty or so years ago, that was a fine choice indeed.
But in the last decade surplus at reasonable prices have all but disappeared here.

ymmv

I'll be trying out some load's tomorrow. When I decide the winning load it'll be assembled into 100 rds and then put into stripper clip's then bandoleered.

Wow that must have been something! ;) Hope you kept one, those would be rarer than hen's teeth nowadays.

If you know about who I am refering

1940 LB No5!!! That takes the cake! My head is spinning.

to as the guy from Yonge Street that got closed down after the fire....he has 5 of them still. Wax paper intact. I can find you a number for him.

Is this where you got yours? I cringe to find out, but what's he asking?

A friend of mine just got one of the Long Branch Jungle Carbines, this was like a week ago. I am in line to see it soon too, like next weekend. If so I will take and post pics of it.

He took it all apart and feels it is 100% kosher.

Yes, for real.

I had never heard of it before to tell you the truth. Although...yes, I did read somewhere that SAL did make some trial Jungle Carbines, LB was always coming up with one offs and prototypes.

Please PM me a phone number as well for the fellow.

That's one of the most interesting No5 rifles I've seen yet.
