Buying my First Handgun! Please help!

No matter what it is going to be a 9mm (Cheaper to shoot/Easy to find ammo) + I take accuracy over power.

My three choices Money is not of concern.
My hands are a fair size, im 5'11 - 150-160 pounds.

Sig P226
Beretta 92fs /92A1
H&K USP
(All in 9mm)


I am planning on going into the RCMP, and joining a local gun club to practice at on a regular basis.

Also what 9mm ammo should I use? Sellier & Bellot 124gr or American Eagle 115gr or 124gr? I want to shoot clean ammo. If there is a better alternative let me know. And it cant be the bi-metal magnetic stuff that indoor ranges do not allow.
And Can I use those brands of ammo in ispc competitions? if so what grain?

You would probably want to compete in IPSC Production Division. For Production Division, the power factor you must achieve is 125. (Power factor = bullet velocity in FPS x bullet weight in grains / 1000.) Some factory 9x19mm ammunition makes it, some doesn't.

The only way to know is to test it in your own pistol (under the same environmental conditions that the match will be held in).

I Have tried the Beretta and enjoyed it, im just not sure where to go to try the others. I am leaning towards the p226 as of now I have held one and loved it. The USP is a great gun as well but it seems to have few aftermarket parts, the Sig, from what I hear is one of the best pistols in the world. Noted as the "Cadillac of Pistols"?
 
personally I'd go for the SIG Sauer P226, no safety on slide and very accurate and reliable
Beretta is a little bit cheaper, it's a good gun too, only you have to accept the slide safety and a bit fatter grip
 
Although the 5946 isn't a nice gun to shoot, I'd recommend getting one as close to what you're going to be using at work. When your life depends on it, it's nice to have done lots of practice on the one you're using at the time. If you have to think for a second or two, where is my mag release, it could cost you your life....good luck on your decision.

Make friends at your local club.

Or if you live in a fairly large city, some dealers may have guns you can try on for fit.
 
I would buy the S&W 5946 in 9mm.
