Which 243 rifle ?

I actually picked one up the other day.
The quality of the bolt/receiver was good, the finish on the blued barrel was comparable to savage. The stock however was akin to a whiffle bat and the plastic trigger group reminded me of a 597Rem.....as was the $80+ plastic mag....not my deal.
Tika, you love em, you hate em, you love to hate em.....

The trigger group on the T3's is not plastic, it is all metal.

Not sure where or how you got that impression?

Well the one I handled was all plastic. Right down to the mag.
Very light weight, good to cary but the stock felt too flexy, didn't like the tic tic tic sound it made and the gun was barrel heavy with a standard barrel.

If yours has a metal trigger group it must be from last year.

SAVAGE..SAVAGE...SAVAGE...SAVAGE...SAVAGE!!!!!!!! AND REPEAT!!!!!!
GREAT GUNS, GREAT PRICES, ACCURATE, UPGRADABLE, NORTH AMERICAN!!!
what more could you ask for?????

Been wanting to handle one but none of the stores have one. The savages they all cary are the cheap axiis/edge models. I'd like a acutrigger/ upgrade option.

I walked out of Lebaron with a VTR last week for $640..they have a no tax event going on right now..great reliable action..wasn't sure about the barrel at first...but went to the range..took about 5 to sight in the scope..first 4 groups of five at 125 yards could be covered with a nickle...I am very happy with the purchase..using it for coyote and deer and am quite confident it will to the job.

No, the trigger group is not plastic on any of them!

The trigger guard and mag are plastic but certainly not the trigger group!

What ever the case. I asumed the group is plastic then since the guard is and the group and guard are usually synonymous.
My point is that I get a general feel of cheapness out of the gun.

I always thought tikka was a cheap feel for the money...but all the low end guns are...you just want something that fits is accurate and realiable ...right you only start to get real quality when you go to the next level price range...

Ok in my last thread we covered the 243Win and its cousins as well as a plethora of 25 cals.
I have learned that the 25 cal line up is just a bit too much for pelt saving and the 243 will not be an ethical choice for moose elk or bear.
this limits me to the 243Win., the 244?6mm Rem and a few others.

What I am narowing my search for now is a suitable platform for this chambering.

-It must be a bolt action.
-idealy I would like it to have atleast a mid weight barrel
-preferably NON stainless.
- in and arround the $600 mark +/-
