Deer hunting -old style

I have to agree. Ethical is how you get it done, not what you use. If you lack the ability, all hunting is unethical. The key is recognizing the limits of your gear, and your ability. Stay inside that window, and all's good.

Not sure if you were trying to belittle my comment there...but yes. Dead is dead...we're all savages, some more than others. I prefer to kill my animals quickly as I have a bit of a weak heart.

But I could give two s**ts how someone else gets to the end goal in hunting (dead animal).

Well put, but the devil is in the details. The civilised savage such as yourself and myself understands that suffering is un-neccesary, and, being that we take no pleasure in another's suffering, should be avoided. Dead is dead alright, but do you want to die over a period of seconds, minutes, hours, or days? I do give a sh!t about the answer to that question.

If I was being killed by someone/something I have little to no say in how I was being killed. I try to kill animals quick because I think its right. I'm still killing an animal. Would it bother me if a guy I hunt with wanted to hunt in a different way? Yes, thats why I only hunt with certain people.
 
I killed a ptarmigan today. Flat as a pancake with a 2004 Dodge pick-up. Way faster and more ethical than with a gun........

Kudos to the spear chucker!

^totally agree

think the problem I may have with the guy using atlatl is that he just proved to a whole bunch of yahoos it can be done, and many of those will try with terrible results after puting a fraction of time to practice with their new toy :/

There are a few reasons I pick my hunting pals wisely and what they choose to hunt with is just one.
