Hello.

I'm looking into buying a Scope for my 375H&H. I was looking at a Zeiss Conquest 3-9 X40 RZ 600 (I think) for $675 MSRP. Just wondering if this very high price is justified. I'm Familiar with Zeiss for camera lenses but not for scopes and the price seems a little high. what do you guys think? :bangHead:

In the grand scheme of things, $675 isn't that much for a scope. The Conquest series are well built and a good value.

OH I know it's not much for a scope, I was just wondering in comparison to say a Vortex that is half the price... Is the Zeiss that much better. Would you recommend a Zeiss over all the other brands?

Zeiss before Vortex anytime, we are not in the same ball park here... JP.
:agree:
youtube the ziess plant and see what the guys do to test a scope when you send it in for repairs and they are now about to send it back to you. Honestly I have never seen a company take a hammer to 1's scope before.

I have a different model Conquest on my .308 and various cheaper scopes on other rifles. It was a bit easier to work with at the range and marginally better for most field use. Where I really found the difference was the better clarity when I had to stretch to the limits of magnification or had poor light or weather conditions. I try not to abuse it but I've been told that they can withstand a lot and stay on mark. I use that rifle to hunt in the mountains so it gets knocked around a lot getting above treeline, is used in poor conditions, and might need to take long shots. In my experience, the extra expense was well worth it.

Ziess has been around since the First World War The optics are of the best quality in the world .
I was an optician for decades and for those who could afford Ziess for seriuos refractive corrections you could not purchase better I am still of the same belief today for all thier products

I have also purchased scopes for more than 3000.00 , 675.00 is not alot for a quality scope I say buy it

Cheers everyone!
I think I made up my mind and will be buying Zeiss. Read a lot of reviews online, watched a few you tube videos and I cant find any negative information on these Scopes. Seems like a good investment. Thanks again for all your input, it has made my decision that much easier to make! :)

What brand of rifle is it going on?

The reason I ask is that I have learned that the ocular bell on the zeiss are a little larger than usual and you can have trouble with rifles that the bolt comes up fairly high on (like CZ).

Please watch around the 25 minute mark for people who like to hit scopes with hammers.

My understanding is that the Parker Hale uses a similar action to the CZ (mauser 98). Perhaps someone who knows more than me could chime in about bolt throw. Just be aware that you may need high rings to clear the ocular with the bolt depending on the setup :)

It's nice to have a scope that holds its zero.

It's even better to have a scope that holds its zero after being dropped, banged, rattled, thumped, or beaten in anger (after missing a shot).

Pseudo: I have an extensive selection of Conquest (and Victory/Diavari) in stock - almost every available mag and reticle model available - at prices to please. Feel free to pm for a quote.

Why go with the Rapid Z-600 for a 375 H&H? The regular Conquest 3-9x40 with Z-Plex is $479-$499. Same glass and everything, only difference is the reticle.

I might end up going for the regular conquest the Z-600 is the one the sales person was trying to sell me... Im not 100% sold on it. I think I would be okay with the normal reticle.

The Z-600 is a good reticle and the computer data to back it up has been accurate on the rifle I use it on. I've also been happy with the Z-plex I use on other rifles. If you plan on taking the .375 out a ways than get the rapid Z, if not than stay with the Z-plex. If you are going to go with the Z-600 play with there computer program and see how it lines up with the .375. You can play with your zero and they will give you your optimum power setting for best results. It's not complicated and I found it easy to navigate.
