I am interested in getting a .45-70 barrel for my TC Encore. In terms of MAP, does anyone know whether that barrel and action combo can handle Ruger#1 type loads i.e. 50,000 PSI, or is it limited to Marlin 1895 (40,000 PSI) or weaker trapdoor rifle loads.

Thanks in advance.

The Encore frame and barrel (if factory) stand the higher pressure cartridges, such as belted magnums, so should easily contain the high end pressure loads. What you may get to dislike very quickly is the recoil, as in the light Encore, recoil should he worst then a .458 Win. Mag. with its heavier weight.

my encore endeavor 15" 45-70 , leverevolution ammo. i had the Scope (nikon 1x4x32) Rings(Weaver Grand slam steel) on my Gun Blow apart and the scope fly off! it was Sure a Light Gun!!!

After that i Installed 3 scope Rings on her!

I have a 375hh 18.5" in a tc encore flex stock and use the max 300gr loads with it and it the recoil is stiff but it is very manageable. The gun does take the recoil as the stocks have loosened but easy to retighten. I have test fired the 4570 15" brl with marlin loads that I use in my guide gun and find it reasonable with recoil.

FWIW, I would go for either the 20 inch Katahdin carbine barrel or the 24 inch rifle barrel.

I have the rifle; not the pistol stock.

I have it in muzzleloader 209X50 with 26 inch barrel. I do not find it light. Not sure if it would be much lighter with the 45-70 barrel.
