(I figured this section was probably the most relevant and best to find interest)

Morning everyone, Ive been wanting to get into reenactment for a while now. Once i'm done with school out here and return to Nanaimo in the summer, I would really like to start a civil war reenactment group.

I would rather do war of 1812 or Napoleanic, but that era is far more cost prohibitive uniform wise.

It looks like it would be around 1000 to get all your gear, uniform, and musket for the group. Not too much for a whole set up I think. Depending on the musket and how much extras you buy for the kit.

Also I have a cannon that can be used with the group as well.

We would need people to enlist for both sides or we would be marching fighting imaginary enemies :p

This is probably the cheapest website to buy your gear and uniform from by far.

For the muskets you can try loyalist arms or marstar to name a couple. Or the EE !

So if you are interested I'd love to get some input and see how much interest we can garner in this venture!

Cheers, McLean

P.S. here is a couple pics of me just goofing around, Also some before and after shots of the cannon. The bore size is lemon...:D

The cannon is alot of fun, will shoot a lemon a few hundred yards no problem.

First time I fired it I put a bit too much powder in, as I wasnt really sure how much. Turns out thats a good way to freshen the air.

Canada has a lot of leftist limp wrist-ed problems, I know that. However I wave the Rebel flag always have and always will. I know a lot of people who also do, Remember there were 50,000 Canadians volunteered for the civil war on both sides. several medal of honors were awarded and more than a couple became generals.

I love my country, I know it has problems but so does everywhere. Also I am still a loyal supporter of Canada's Queen and royal family.

There are far more firearms (antique or reproductions) readily available for the U.S. Civil war than the war of 1812, the only gun that I have for the 1812 scenario is a Queen Anne .50 cal. smooth bore flinter pistol.
If I get to be a General I will join....:D

Antique yes but there is a sufficient amount of reproductions avaliable. The biggest problem is the cost of the uniform. There are several companies that make them but they are really really pricey!

I think with the fact that next year will be the bicentenial an 1812 camp would work best. May I suggest somewhere around Parksville. I have a wedge tent and access to a wall tent. I also have a fireset, an India Pattern Brown Bess, a 1796 New Land Pattern flintlock pistol and a 2/3 scale British 9 pounder.
