Sako A7 vs Tikka T3

Very similar rifles, both excellent.

Last year the Sako models included a Burris fullfield 11 scope and were a very good deal.

I think it's really 6 of one, half a dozen of the other.

Hummmm. oldest son has a T-3 s/s, I have an A7 s/s, He loves his, I love mine! so, I'd have to say the Sako A7 is KING! :) Sure is purdy'r anyway! ;)

I'd say the biggest functional difference are the larger opening in the receiver for the ejection port (makes feeding a single cartridge in by hand easier), the change in the way the magazine is removed (harder to accidentally drop the mag out on an A7) and the safety / bolt release (you can open the bolt with the safety on, if desired). The other changes like a thicker receiver in the A7, the metal feed lips on the mag and others have there merits, but don't really impact the day to day use.

Both mine shoot equally well, feed smoothly and have great triggers.

One difference is the A7 come in a true short action while the T3 uses a blocked long action for the short action cartridges. If I was looking at a short action cartridge this would give me a slight preference for the A7.

I have a T3 in 6.5x55 and I'm very happy with it.

I have 2 T3's and an A7. I like them both very much. I wouldn't pay a whole bunch more for the Sako. I bought mine on sale so it was a good deal. If I wanted to spend more money I would look at the laminate stock on the T3. Either way good rifles.

I like the feel of the T-3s better. The mag lips have steel inserted on the A7.
As well as what others have described. I don't think the extra money is worth it to me. Like Gringo said I would go with a laminate T-3 first.

Are they about even for accuracy?

You would be hard pressed to find a big difference. Mind Sako will garantee MOA for the A7 and says nothing about the T3 .

I found the scope mounting options were better for the A7 and there was really was no problem with the bases that are included on the rifle, which may help the price differential if you just wanted to use an existing set of rings you had laying around and go shooting right away.

Ive since upgraded to one piece LW talleys rings but mostly just to get it down to bare minimum weight.

T3 vs A7

I bought a stainless A7 (.270 Win) after comparing it to the stainless T3. These were my reasons, in no particular order:

1) The action on the A7 seemed to be smoother to me.
2) I liked the generic scope rail and option of less expensive scope rings on the A7.
3) I LOVED the ability to cycle the action with the safety on.
4) The stock on the A7 was a better fit for me.
5) The A7 came with a free 3-9x Burris scope and a pair of Burris Binos.

I am extremely happy with the A7. My only pet peeve is that a spare mag costs more than I paid for my first .22 rifle.

I think the Optilok Rings on my Tikka are some of the best out there and would probably use them regardless of the gun. Rings are not something I like to be cheap.

I could be wrong but isn't the A7 lighter in most calibers ?

I went with the A7, Now to get my bounty money from county. I wish I could sell hide but don`t know buyer.
