When is the Ruger 77/357 out In Canada?

What does one use a 77/357 for?

.

I've wondered the same thing since first hearing about these models.
I love pistol-caliber lever action carbines for their fast handling and generous magazine capacity...definitely a winner.

Four round capacity rotary magazine with the Ruger bolt-action ... pretty weak.:jerkit:

Some people are easily impressed IMO. For the ballpark price range there are many other guns that are... better.

Ok, but I don’t like a lever action for simple reason that when it comes time to unload. With the box magazine like the 77/44 or 77/357 it’s a matter of second. How does it go with the tubular magazine when it's full !

I have a marlin in 357 that a niece and nephew, both light weights, took their 1st deer with. Most young kids aren't going to make a 200 yard. Light recoil, short length, why wouldn't someone start a kid on one??? How many had to start on a sporterized 303, not scoped, and gave up??? We're losing enough people in this sport not to try and give the next generation an easier start.
Be it $740 (US retail) is a little much for a kids gun, but some of us have lots of younger ones coming up and in the end, it's investing in something we all enjoy.
And as mentioned before, 357 is more common, so more guys would already be reloading. Reloading = more shooting
Definitely has me thinking about moving the Marlin on

I would want one just for the sheer enjoyment of being able to carry a pistol caliber in the bush and shoot on my own land. Since I can't carry the actual pistol....

Ruger 77/44

very nice to carry and shoot, very short bolt throw and smith can do nice job on trigger. Was accurate once bedded, but really needed that, tried MANY powders and loads before figuring that out. It's a keeper.

Hmm, how can I justify this over my marlin 1894C? My irrational non logical self keeps telling me I need one but then my logical side says no my 1894C can do everything a 77/357 can do and more.

Can you scope it in a matter of seconds? Shoot it in the prone? Clean in completely in under 2 mins? Load/unload in half a second?

You Marlin CAN do everything this can but not as fast.

You win that at first...til you need to reload...then I can probably blast off 2 more magazines during your reload:)

Would you have to load the mags or would you be starting with loaded mags....:)...either way,

When a 77/44 is too much.:)

...and a .22 rimfire is not enough.

Nobody really knows what a .357 bolt gun is good for but it's a cool idea, and it will sell. I like the concept but I can't see where I'd use it other than plinking. It could make an interesting CF gopher gun.

The 357 in a rifle will take deer size game up to 150 yards with 158 grain cast bullets.
