I have a question. Did Browning do a rifled slug barrel for the Auto 5.? I gave my Grandson one a few months ago and he wants a rifled slug barrel so he can participate in the local Deer hunt next year. Ideas.?

Don't know if they made a rifled bore but they made a smooth bore for sure with sites. Problem is impossible to find and when you do they sell for what the gun it worth. I would be looking at picking up an old remington express or something else and set it up with a rifled barrel.

Here is one for sale now state side
Browning A-5 BELGIUM 12 ga. $425.00 24 SLUG, RIGLE SIGHTS, 2 3/4 in., 99% SMOOTH BORE

I'll have to agree with the guys above. Rifled slug barrels are a relatively new idea. Trying to find a smooth bore rifled sight barrel could be difficult and expensive, but do able. Good luck in your search you never know. Check out a few gun shows and you might find one.

Thanks for the info, looks like he will be the owner of a Remington Express with the cantilever barrel before next Bambi season.!!

That will work well for him. I have newer browning gold semi's and didnot even try to find a slug barrel after checking the prices I just went and got the express which works just fine.

I spent the money on two slug A5 slug barrels. (smooth bore) The recoil action prevents any kind of accuracy. I did better with an A5 with 2 3/4 " 00 buckshot at close range.ANY fixed barrel slug gun will do better. Not a slag just the truth.

Two options, well three actually, buy the hastings barrel or buy one that has chokes(barrel) and get a rifled choke tube for it.
or three practice now with several brands of ammo at different yardages and see how it goes.
One can buy a slew of slugs for $500.00 and wouldnt notice the difference one bit.
But DILLIGAF ;p)
Kidding on the last bit, but seriously practice with the gun and barrel combo now and see how accurate it is before investing the time and money.
Tight Groups,
Rob
