Mini 14 ranch rifle, good for coyotes? or not a good idea?

I agree. As mentioned - I'm going to pick one up and hope to eventually augment it with a bolt action rifle in 25-06 for the really "stretchy" shots. I'm really looking forward to winter coyote hunting this year in Alberta. :)

It seems that the big downside of 7615 platform is the whole cleaning process. Rifle can only be cleaned from the muzzle's end which may lead to damage to the crown...which will affect accuracy and make this rifle a pain in the butt to fix. "Serious discussion" about supremacy of 10 rounds magazine over 5 rounds magazine is just plain silly until we are talking zombie coyotes coming at You in waves . Both rifles are good enough for intended purpose.

I could be wrong but I believe it is illegal to hunt with a 10 rd mag as well. AB has a restriction on the number of rounds to 5... I have an XCR but I almost never use it, I have an x-bolt which is absolutely awesome though.

Cummins4x4 I like most of your choices, but not that one! :D

A better coyote rifle scarcely exists than a new model, 580+ series mini. Mine has blown my expectations away, crazy accurate and handy. Many of the greater Mini accuracy naysayers opinions actually stem from a lack of ability with iron sights. Many shooters today are glass shooters, scope dependent, and half the Mini's bad rap comes from being equipped with a good set of iron sights and most shooters trying it that way first.
Amen brother.

Why not use a jerk through bore snake or a crown/muzzle protector when cleaning from the muzzle?

I went with the one in the middle.

How does it group? The barrel looks a lil bit noodley for top accuracy to my eyes.

Off the bench with a front rest, no sandbags, at 100 yards with Fiocchi 55 gr ball:

Irons 5 rounds into 2.5" - 3"

2x7 Redfield 5 rounds into 2". At 200 yards 5 rounds into 3.5".

I thought the same of that pencil barrel but it seems to group the same even after the barrel heats up.

In ON, the only limit imposed by the MNR is the shotgun glug to 3 rule. Rifle is Firearms act controlled.

Ardent I was thinking the same thing about all the Mini accuracy bashing. I never owned one, but the different types that I do, i occasionally see them being wrongfully slandered in the accuracy department and I'm saying, "can everyone really wring out every last bit of MOA ,even on a bench rest, let alone off hand or over a pack?:)"

I got this instead

Shoots MOA or better

This looks like a very, very, practical coyote package. At MOA or less, it is everything and more in the accuracy department to well beyond the effectice range of the cartridge. Kinda got me interested in these now. Never really appealled till I saw your pictures.

Looking at getting one myself but have only tracked down the stainless synthethic one and I was looking to get a wood stocked one. Is there any accuracy differences between the two ?

This is the one I want :

Competely biased of course :D

Quit screwing around and get yourself the best non-restricted coyote gun out there a Robinson Arms XCR-L in 223 I did I them added a complete upper in 6.8SPC so I am also good for deer, I also have 10 round pistol mags for both...

Only thing is this rifle is so accurate you only ever need one shot...

After owning both the XCR in .223 and 7.62x39 and the Mini 14 the only thing that the XCR has on the mini is 5 extra rounds. That five extra rounds costs you $1500 plus the cost of all the loc-tite.
