good 22 magnum rifle

Don't discount a Mossberg Chuckster if you can get your hands on one. Amazingly accurate.

Have a synthetic stocked Remington 597 in .22 magnum that I bought off the EE. Leupold mount and rings from the EE and a basic Tasco scope. Added the Volquartsen hammer and extractor and it's accurate and reliable.

As a disclaimer be forwarned if you take the bolt out of the 597 magnum those double stack springs are akin to a nightmare to get back in.

My Savage 93FV (heavy barrel/no sights) is one of my favorite guns. I'd lean towards Savage, but to save a few $, perhaps you could look at the Marlin XTs.

I picked up a BRNO Norinco 22 MAG knockoff years ago-if you want a truck gun,thats the way to go.I reshaped,slimmed down and refinished the chunky stock to match my BRNO .22 and cut the barrel to 18".Its got a pretty good trigger and its accurate.I think I paid $100 from SIR if my memory serves me correctly.A 4X Bushnell ''VARMINT''.22 scope does nicely[can't find that ''varmint''model anymore-its a compact scope]
