Marlin 795 trigger mod~anyone here done it?

Hey guys, wondering who's done this. I'm not much for tinkering with guns, but I can already tell the trigger on my new Marlin is a bit of a beast. Not interested in gambling safety-wise. As I've yet to disassemble this Christmas present (will get the opportunity Dec.26 ;) ) it all looks a bit daunting, but doable.

Interested in hearing your experience with it.
 
I've never done a 795 but I did just do my mod 60. The trigger was pretty heavy but it was the creep that really bothered me. Almost an 1/8" take up which is way too much. I ended up just drilling the top part of the trigger and tapping it for a 6/32 screw. I then cut a small screw and slotted one end so I could adjust it with a screw driver. It took about 20 minutes and the trigger is very crisp now. It's still a little heavy but I'm sure just polishing engagement surfaces will take it down to 3 lbs.

I did the exact same thing. I also slipped a small piece of emery between the sear disconnect/traveller(cant remember what its actually called) and the action sideplate and removed quite a bit of metal. i also removed the trigger return spring all together, when you use the grub screw in the trigger it's not necessary for the function of the rifle and takes about one pound off right there.
When i had it apart with all the springs out i also coated all the moving parts in clover valve lapping compound and worked them really hard, then washed them clean in the varsol tank and lubed. Slick as snot now.
 
Just had my first chance to shoot this rifle today, and yeah....trigger is pretty brutal. Didn't find the creep too distracting, but it's a really heavy pull. With such a light gun, it's hard to not move the whole rig just pulling the trigger. Crazy.

Need to watch those YouTube videos a few more times...try to drum-up the confidence to take the job on.
