Shot my newly built 10/22 for the first time today. It started life as a gun show find 1992 DSP in pretty good shape.
I started by stripping the anodizing of the reciever and trigger group and giving it a thorough polishing. I then started to work on the trigger and got the factory one down to 20 oz. It's crisp and clean and a joy to shoot. It's almost too light for a walking around gun. I may trade it with my benchrest 22 which has a 2.5lb trigger.
I polished all the internals and it runs very very smoothly. Cycles all subsonics no problem.
Next I got an old boat paddle stock from Wham-O and a 11.5" Dlask barrel from 300spartans. Thanks guys.
I think it will end up in a RDS but for now, its the cheap bushnell rf scope.
I tried it out today and the accuracy was ok with average 1" groups at 40 yards. It did however seem to really like the new winchester bulk target ammo which it kept under 5/8" for 5 shot groups at 40 yards. I haven't tweaked it much yet and this is with the barrel band on. If I decide to bed and float it, I'm sure it will do moa with proper ammo. But for what it is, thats very good accuracy. It never jammed in 200 rounds but I'm not suprised.
I don't really buy into the whole zombie/teotwawki/bob crowd but if the unthinkable ever happened I think this would make a nice light packable survival 22.
The blade on the sling is an ESEE izula and it's one of my favorites.
