I bought myself an SVT for my birthday last week. Ordered it Monday and it arrived this Sunday by expidited mail. Very good condition 43 Tula. I was very happy. I am soaking the metal parts in my varsol bath and will take it out Saturday to the range. :)

they are fun to shoot.

had mine out on sunday, but I need to get a gas system tool, I had it set to 1.3 and then it decided to go into manual mode, halfway between settings :(

oh and remember to clean after shooting corrosive ammo, boiling water then clean

Nice thing about SVTs is that you wil lhave at least 1 empty bench on either side of you at the range. Anybody dumb enough to sit next to you will wise up by the second shot!

I always strip my Russian rifles right down and use boiling water after surplus ammo use. I actually still enjoy taking a rifle apart and cleaning it.
I have no camera. Mine conked out and I hear rumor that Santa is bringing one . No pics for now, so imagine a REALLY nice SVT and that is mine :)

Are they fairly loud? never seen one in action altough i have looked at a few in the store.

Even with hearing protection, sitting next to one for a while will have your ears ringing like you were at a metal concert for hours. Shooting them isn't bad though, .

I got mine from them 3 years ago, and it's still one of my favorites, the only gripe I have is it eats up the ammo like peanuts...

That's only because you feed it.
I'm going to the range on Saturday to fire mine for the first time. I am also test firing my new modified Mosin 91/30.. It was a $100 special and the bore wasn't great so I have turned it into an M38.

Is it any wonder that so many soldiers from WWII were deaf early on or at least hard of hearing? And what about today's soldiers? Having been around some AR'ish guns being shot even outdoors I can't imagine the noise of being in a squad of guys all shooting these things.
