They really were rather poorly marked for part of the war, weren't they?

Check for the "ED" mark: capitals "E" and "D" joined together: Enfield's War Two factory stamp on these. Albions were marked as such in script.

From the quality of the work, I would be surprised if yours is not an Enfield.

Great guns, really, and FAR more accurate than they generally are given credit for being. That straight-through pull isn't all that it ain't cracked up to be: if you pull slowly and carefully, you will detect, just before the hammer falls, a short hesitation during which the trigger becomes almost fluid. It is there so you can correct your aim.

Model is Pistol Number 2 Mark 1*: Number Two, Mark One, Star.

From off the bags, I have got 2-inch 15-yard groups from both of mine as well as from a Webley tested the same day. Load was 2.1 (two-point-one) grains of Bullseye with a 158 SWC seated to the OAL of the military Mark IIz round.

Nice toy!

Keep her smokin'!

Enfield Mark 1 Two Stars.

Emergency wartime mod eliminating the hammer block. If you dropped one, it COULD fire.

Nearly ALL were retro-fitted with the right parts to render them safe holster pistols.

Check gun to make sure it is empty, the push forward on the hammer. If it won't go forward to fire a round, then yours has had the update mods.

Guns without the update mods are extremely rare.

That "E" wil be the "ED", if you check it carefully: Enfield.

Hope this helps.

Lanyard rings mostly are split construction so they can get into the fitting.

You can make one with a hammer from the right heavy wire, hammer-bend it a bit at a time until you have a circle. Same technique can be used for making ring-mail.

Save the lathe for the stud; you'll need it!

rings are not the problem those can be found / salvaged from other civi sling swivels. Its the studs that are the problem, I'll be making several this winter when I have time.
