I have seen both shotgun shell and center fire rifle cartridge holders.
They are usually made of leather or fabric.
I cannot find this for .22lr. I have seen hard plastic boxes with a clam-shell lid, but that's not what I had in mind.

Has anyone ever seen a wallet / pouch or length of fabric which can hold in individual pockets, .22lr rounds?

How do you carry your .22lr rounds in the field (pockets not included)?

I don't like the plastic box style either, have 2 of them...use them to store the mags instead~does a good job of keeping dirt/debris out of them. (better than keeping mags in your pocket! :)

Don't have an answer...but mine stay in their boxes until they go into the mags. For me, it's a function of both how many rounds will be shot in an outing, and how small they are. When hunting with my .223, I can put a few spare rounds in that stretchy thing that wraps around the buttstock and have all I need. When shooting .22, I never have less than 100-150 rounds with me. The boxes they come in are as handy as anything else, and the CCI ones allow me to easily dispense them in 5-10 round lots~perfect.

I find pockets work best for dumping 50 or 100 shells into.

I do have a sling with the "web" for holding 22 shells, and have tried it, but they are so small and finicky to get into it, and to remove from it, that it just wasn't owrth the effort. Also, they are such a small round to begin with, there is very little tolerance between "too tight" and "too loose" in the design of the web.

I got a spare one of these if you have a traditional rifle stock. It holds atleast 150 rounds.

I've got an old Case Logic cassette tape holder (zippered, cloth case)that I can pour a couple hundred rounds into, and stick that in my pocket. The zipper allows me to close it up to keep from spilling the ammo, but it's easy to open to top off a mag or swap mags.

For hunting season, a box of 50 rides in the waist pack, in the front pocket.

Cartridge loops of any sort, in relation to a .22, are pretty much more decorative than practical.

30-round magazines. If you have a gun that accepts them (10-22, 597) then you just slam mag into gun. If not, the 30-rounder fits into the pocket nicely and it's easy to remove rounds single handed and load into proper mag or single shot...

Well, don't really hunt with mine, so I just throw a couple bricks in an ammo can with other ammo when going plinking.

I know you said you weren't looking for this...but this is what I use and it works great...fits into a cargo pocket and the rounds don't rattle. MTM caseguard makes them.
