CQB question

ORA CQB is 35 yards and down, barrel length is not really a factor especially if you are using some sort of optic.
This season several competitors did quite well with short barrels, as did others with 20" and maybe even longer barrels. I used a 14.5" barrel because that is what I already had.
One of the things I learned is that in CQB (as in many other things) there is no substitute for reliable equipment and the skill that comes from practice.
Hundreds (maybe thousands) of points were lost due to jams, bungled reloads and an endless variety of stupid mistakes. And that was just me...
So whatever you choose make sure it works and that you know how to run it.

Any pros/cons for using a short (7.5") barrel AR platform?

For CQB and competition, none at all (barring muzzle-flash and noise).
The problem in a combat context is that you give away a lot of lethality at any kind of distance. The 5.56mm ball round depends on the bullet tumbling for its stopping power. Below a certain velocity, it won't do that. Accuracy remains OK, but remember the M4-armed troops in Iraq complaining about hitting Bad Guys and not having them go down. It's a function of muzzle velocity (barrel length dependent) vs distance. Special loads can compensate, but the standard milspec cartridges are designed for longer barrel.

The only con will be other shooters going "Hey cool, can I check that out?" 
Hey, a thought just occurred to me me. If a person shoots a 7.5 barrel in their carbine, will their pistol muzzle actually be closer to the target when they transition? Things that make me go "Hmmmmm"

Pro's; the side blast will likely cause the shooters on each side to fall over....

Ya, a good compensator helps a lot. I put a North East Arms one on my 10.5 and it works pretty good.
I have a pig on my shorty, works great, but... then your side buddies miss out on the bloody noses due to concussion

I have shot service rifle with an 11.5" out to 500m, was on target 4'x4', but thank goodness no wind, also the round were going subsonic making it hell for the score keepers down range.
At CQB distances for target shooting the shorties have no real issues.
