I've lost respect

His (biased) comparison of the M16 to the AK47 is laughable too...the fully auto portion especially. The M16 has maybe a third of the AK's recoil, of course it will be more accurate. I think too that the wire stock on the AK didn't contribute much to stability-wonder why the guy didn't use the wooden butt stocked one?
I like Lee, but he kinda pissed me off in these clips....

Common now, you can easily tell it's done a bit tongue in cheek style!
He's an ex-marine for gosh sake.
If you can't take a bit of ribbing................;)

It wasn't the British or the English who gave it the name, anyway; it was the Romans.

Pretwyn is what Pytheas of Massillia found it called.

This became Britain.

The Romans liked the place (good wine in those days) and so called it Magna Brittania: GREAT BRITAIN. They also issued the first coins with the seated Brittanna on the reverse.

It only became called Aenglaland (land of the Aengles) following the invasions of the 5th Century. We shortened this to "ENGLAND".

The only people who ever objected to this were the Normans, who tried to change the official language to FRENCH. Fortunately, Duke William and his cronies did not succeed.

But then, I am prejudiced also.

I want the truth.
.

It was actually called GREATER Britain by the Romans, to differentiate it from LESSER Britain [now called Brittany in North Western France. The languages were the same Brithonic or P-Celtic and different from the language group later called Irish/Gaelic the so-called Q-Celtic languages.

Of course, if you examine what you have written, you'll find that it is full of French-derived words, like ~25% of modern English is.

To save you looking, I've taken the liberty, for which I hope you forgive me, of high-lighting French-derived words in bold/underline.

Merry Christmas!

The M1 is great because a CANADIAN made it for the US and they made it there own.lol :)
And we took there used M16s perfected them to come up with the C7 the one the M4 makers try to copy.:)

So, I've come across this video, and now I've lost respect for Lee Emery. BBe careful when watching it, you may find yourself screaming at your computer, I did.

Before the show, someone on the crew could have done a quick google search. 30-06 first cartridge with smokeless powder - NO . Garand is the longest serving military rifle - NO . And so on and so forth.

Thanks JEAN-CANTIUS Garand for such a geat riffle and the other model that were born from your design!

For god's sake get his name right! Jean-Cantius Garand!

Personally, I prefer Superchicken.

Yes, lotsa French-derived words in modern English, but the derivation in many cases was directly from Latin. Look at the old AS MSs and you will see Latin-derived terms cropping up, likely beause the priesthood were the only major literate class..... much like today, perhaps.

English today is the World Language precisely BECAUSE it steals from all other lkanguages in order to enrich iself. Russian is another example of a language which steals a lot. These languages progress and become more useful as languages which do not adapt become marginalised. Just try talking about nuclear physics or nanotechnology in KiSwahili or Xosha and see how far you get.

I STILL don't like William the Bastard.
