Definitely worth the money. DW are just a tiny notch below the big name semi-customs guns from Wilson, Ed Brown and the like, but for hundreds less. They are pricey, but are actually the best value in a high end 1911 on the market today.
 
I've also done some looking for these fine works of art.
The V-Bob Commander was on top of my list but I couldn't stomach $2300.
Maybe a little more overtime and it might come home with me.
We'll see.

I have a SSC. Replaced trigger bow and components with good stuff. Very happy. To want something nicer would be a custom job.

I see that one listed here in Canada at $1999 now that I've been looking :)
 
I bought a brand new DW CBOB .45 from ArmsEast in 2008 for $1150. At the time, I believed the gun was several hundred dollars UNDERpriced for what it offered. Time has proven me right. My DW is extremely well-made in all respects. I'm just glad I'm not in the market for one now, since the prices have REALLY gone up.

Yes and they forced themselves out of the target pistol market when Sig-Hammerli was sold to the German multinational Umarex. Went from world class steel & walnut to cheap looking plastic-aluminum frames with rather unusual colors IMO. I look at the newest pistols out there and I think the only thing worth saving is the rather nice Rink grips that adourn them, that the shooter added at considerable extra expence. The rest is s@@t. Just like alot of big companies, it's not about quality products made to last forever, it's all about cutting manufacturing costs to the bare minimum.

For DW would recommend dealing with Clay at Prophet River or Mark at GT Sports.

Good news, found the Commander Classic & PM7 to be exceptional pistols, perhaps a bargain.

Bad news, London Arms is no longer the warranty centre for CZ/DW, you will have to deal with CRAFM...

One of mine arrived with a bunged sight screw - figure pretty straight forward issue to resolve - e-mail photo and e-mail receipt... After 5 months was told they could not obtain the screw, sorry cannot be of help. Did the leg work for them to locate the sight, three months later (total of 8 now) and after explaining for the third time that was a warranty issue - I need to ship the pistol or the sight to receive warranty service - hold detent, lefty loosey, right tighty - that simple to remove and replace the screw...

If I did not want to ship the pistol (as am worried 1. about Canada Post, 2. waiting another 5 months as still no ETA, and 3. unnecessary handling by others) or remove (& reinstall the sight) I was also offered the opportunity to purchase a new sight at retail but they would not know what the retail price would be until after go ahead to purchase it... (sure CRAFM would avoid shipping & handling costs, smith time... but retail it is, thanks Frank).

Had a similar experience with a warranty claim for a CZ453 - after 6 months purchased the parts, 3 months later they came through (total of 9 months). A shirt & hat were sent with it, gesture was appreciated but not change 9 months wait on parts.

Have contacted warranty departments for Ruger, Remington, H&R, & Savage (whether for spares, parts for mods, or warranty) and never waited longer than 2 weeks for an issue to be resolved.

Hence you may want to think of the purchase as one without warranty. Trojans been on sale around $1,000 and are exceptional pistols (a bargain even at their regular price) - not the same bling factor but very good. If you're after SS also consider the SIGs.

Your pistol, yours to use, would not worry about whether or not something is sacrilegious - other than the PM9 which as a 9mm is clearly sacrilegious to the 1911 design (but if you come across one let me know, been looking for one for a while).
