Lets see some pics of your Tacticool VZ 58/858s

This is the closest I will ever get to a krinkov

I love it!!
What model? What length? I love it.

Anyone know where I can get a quality canti-lever mount for the factory rail pictured below?
I see many who mount an optic on the front top "grip" but I don't want to go that route...time to add some tacticool.

Ok, go ahead and laugh but I need help. I am new to Red Rifles but have the disease. I have recently bought beautiful new wood for my CZ 858 but I am having a hard time replacing it especially the handrails, is there a video anyone knows of that would help.

Thanks

Thanks for the video, the problem I am having is putting that clip ring thing back in the new wood, (Top part of the hand rail, the part he rolled out).

I have two, this is the tacticool one guarding my dishwasher. Sorry about the cell phone picture. I am looking for a lower mount for the Strikefire sight, you can't see through the rings/mounts uness the sights are set to 800m so it really dosn't need to sit that high. The extra high one was all Wholesale Sports had. If anyone else is having the same high scope issue I can go halfers with them on a set of 30mm rings, seeing as we would only need one each.:)

RCloud, BC Tactical has some excellent videos on their website, very easy to follow. I was clueless too but it's really easy. http://www.bctactical.ca/faq.html

Hello

I do not want to derail this thread anymore than I already have, so this is the last time I will seek help here (thanks for the info so far). The issue I am having is this,
I am replacing the original pistol grip and hand rails with new wood. On the upper hand rail there is a heat shield held in place with a clip, I can not get this clip to rotate into place after I place the heat shield into the new piece of wood on the rifle. Any suggestions?

Yup! My suggestion is show a pic of your custom stock replacement in a new thread where is should be. There'll be tons of help and other people could reference the title to help them with similiar problems in the future for themselves so they wouldn't have to jack a picture thread with personal diversions as well. Its Win-Win!

Just say'n;)

I've purchased reloading dies and a 30cal bullet puller and I plan on doing load development on it now that I have a muzzle brake. I want to test the accuracy limits of this gun and I think I've got the setup now for it. I'm using an AcuLab scale the measures down to .00 of a grain which will help limit the powder variable. So far the factory ammo powder loads are fairly consistent around 28grns of whatever powder is in there but they may have not quit hit the harmonic accuracy node. I've completely cleaned my barrel of all copper and have treated it with a Microlon product called Gun Juice, which in my experience, has increased velocity by loss of friction in the barrel and it will help with copper fouling as well.
As soon as I have more results, I'll start a new thread.

We really need some cheap boxer-primed 7.62x39...

Gentlemen:

With out meaning to derail the true intent of this thread:

SDCL:

I hear that Henry Nierychlo has Virgin Winchester bras at about $48/100 count. Thats not cheap, but its decent brass. There is a down side, I have had a good aquaintance who is farily knowledgeable about the 858 platfrom reload for it, and its my understanding that when you can find it after firing, the ejected brass is quite beat up. This tidbit is not meant to discourage anyone from experimenting with relaods in the 858 platfrom, just be aware that brass life may be shorter than expected.

G-A-M:

That is an iteresting build, Have you shot it in that configuration?? Will a deflector be required to prevent spent cassing to optic contact??

I am intersted to see what results you might garner. I would also be intersted to see that if moving the bipod contact area up and down the handgaurd has any affect both on POI, and gropu size. Further that looks like an 858-2 variant with an NEA high tube adaptor and canteliver mount. In that one the barrel is probably chrome molly and SHOULD actually be quite accureate, or at least in honnest comparison to is chrome lined coussin the 4V.

Have you had a chance to slug the barrel and see what the true diameter of the bore is. My thought are that the hornady 123 grain Vmax polymer bullet in 0.310 dia should do quite well.

Interesting project all round.

Oh and as this is a show and tell, this is what mine looks like for now:

CZ858-4v-s-01.jpg

CZ858-4v-s-07.jpg

Specs as follows:

  • Lighty Used Cz-858-4V
  • Nea Upper and lower handgard set
  • One NEA 4" Rail section
  • One NEA 2.5" rail section
  • Fitted NEA Hybrid Brake
  • NEA Low Tube Stock Adaptor
  • NEA ambi sling attachment plate
  • 6 position commercial Carbine stock assemblies
  • Black after-market grip
  • Nea Ambi Safety Latch (installed but not shown)
  • NEA V3 Tac Bolt Release (installed but not shown)
  • NEA Extended Mag Release (installed but not shown)
  • Magpul AFG (gen 1)

At this point I can not deside if I am going to use a Micro, or Comp M3 style red dot on the forward rail. There after I woudl like to replace the stock with a CTR, add a few more rails and a SF scout 300 that I would like to attach to this one via barrel clamp, but thats about it for now.

regards

AbH

Roddy, that is a lot of mags.. :) you must know something we dont... lol.

Well I have to spread them out over two rifles and I got them for a good price. I want some stubbies but the banana types are just too cheap. Also my eight cases of 7.62x39 might wear some out, haha :D

I may be a little paranoid but with these rifles being so much fun I'm constantly worrying that the CZ-858 and its accessories won't always be avalible and I should buy up what I can. Also I don't think I have ever seen guns or gun parts come down in price. Well maybe Norinco guns :)

just picked this thing up. Love it, and will throw on a CTR on it and an NEA upper handguard on and run my trs25 on it since its not being used. Might just get rid of the 10.5" AR, as this is a perfect PDW.
