Those mags are most likley prohib as they were marked and pinned and not manufactured as 10 round 9mm lar mags. Thats why they are scarce. If Questar brought them in before and can't now then thats the reason. Otherwise if you could pin a promag at ten and mark it lar pistol they would be no problem to import.
not to derail the thread but i was told that the lar 10 round mag, is legal with ten rounds but illegal if it is loaded with ten round in a rifle. Told by the store i bought my lar 10 at. Is this true?
So grab a sharpie, write "pistol" on your mags, cap 'em at 10, and happy shooting? A guy can dream...
What? If Promag pins them at 10 rounds and marks them as LAR mags, then they ARE manufactured as LAR mags. The magazine says so, marked by the manufacturer, and they only hold 10 rounds. What more do you want? Just because customs won't let more come into the country doesn't mean that the ones that are here are prohibited. This is how stupid rumors get started.![]()

I was the guy working on an extension base for the Lar mags. I recieved a ton of interest in them and sent a few out to some members here for testing. I asked in return for some feedback on functionallity, design, feel and sturdyness....I got what I was after.
Sorry, I at this time would like to keep the final design under wraps. I have the next 3 weeks off so I will surely make some progress in that time and share some pics of the first castings of this new version. Bear with me folks and thanks for your patience
You should make a thread dedicated to the idea and for updates on releasing it. I'm interested as well.
They are not rumors, if it was we could get our 10/32 9mm mags. How many .223 10/30 mags do you own? My guess is none![]()
Personal preference I suppose but the 20 round PMAGS imo look "MUCH" better then 30. If it were ever possible seeing the 20s, pinned to 10 would really be the bees knees IMO!![]()

Seriously, we just need to be able to obtain UNPINNED 20 and 30 round PMAGS. Stupid law.
Well yes I agree, but likelyhood of it ever happening while we are alive? Not so sure..![]()
I think it would be easier to get that, then it would to get rid of the classifications. But who knows. I doubt Magpul would make a 10 round PMAG simply because of ITAR. Only Canadians want them, and they are a non-military application.
http://oag.ca.gov/firearms/pubfaqs#99.If I have a large-capacity magazine, do I need to get rid of it?
No. Continued possession of large-capacity magazines (able to accept more than 10 rounds) that you owned in California before January 1, 2000, is not prohibited. However as of January 1, 2000, it is illegal to buy, manufacture, import, keep for sale, expose for sale, give or lend any large-capacity magazine in California except by law enforcement agencies, California peace officers, or licensed dealers.
(PC Section 12020 (b)(19-29))
How about Commiefornia? That would seem to be a fairly sizeable market in the USA for magazines that are limited to 10 rounds.
Good point.
+1 had not thought of that, seems that would be good angle for sure as there has to be "millions" there that would go for it and buy..
Hmmm I will have to give some thought on how to best construct a letter to send and find out "WHO" exactly to send it to.
I know awhile back I sent a general email through Magpuls site on interest of a 10 round /20Pmag but never got anything back, probably went straight to delete bin lol,![]()
