I have a sako 75 stainless synthetic in .338 win mag. Im trying to save some weight. Its pretty heavy especially with my bushnell elite 6500 2.5-16x50 mounted on it.

Since i like the factory stock design, i want to put the mcmillan hunter 75 stock on it. Im wondering if anyone has put this stock on and if it has lightened the gun up. Any info would help before i dish out $600

My Sako Hunter stock weighed just over 2lbs, so it isn't a lightweight by any means. You could go with the Edge and save some weight, but Mcmillan only recommends the Edge for for cartridges up to 300WM, so I would talk to them before placing an order.

I have an EDGE-filled 75 pattern, weighs 26oz. A standard filled would likely be 30-32oz. If you go with paint instead of a swirly, it will be on the lighter end.

My edge saved 10oz over the factory plastic stock. Weigh your stock and deduct 30oz and see what the approx savings would be. Also, if you use ring mounts instead of optilocks, there could be another 3-4oz savings.

Was yours magnum filled? I've had 4 Sako Hunter patterns with standard fill, and all were 30oz.

I thought that it was a standard fill. I weighed it after it was bedded, so it's possible that the bedding added an ounce or two.

I just ordered a Sako hunter standard fill. I was told it would weigh about 32 ounces. Add another ounce or so for pillars and bedding.

I put a McM Sako 75 stock (standard fill - pillar bedded) on my M75 300WSM. I couldn't tell you what the stock alone weighs but as pictured below (sans ammo) the rifle weighs 9lbs 8 ounces and balances on the front action screw.
