Hello Everyone
I recently had a major malfunction with my Norinco M14. The bolt actually broke into pieces. Fired a round went down range and ejected and then click when it should have went boom. Looked at the chamber and there were pieces of metal and a fresh round chambered but not locked up. Looks like the bolt imploded in a non-violent manner. Found most of the pieces on the shooting bench about six inches away. This rifle is fairly well done up. USGI sights, stainless one piece rod, USGI spring rooster33 tactical latch, M14 Doctor tuned trigger group, M14 Doctor Ultimate Front Sight Post Modification, shortened barrel to 18.5”, ARMS 18 scope mount, ARMS Quick Release Scope Rings, Falcon Short Dot Scope, Dalask Compensator & two sets of stocks a Archangel & Camouflage USGI Fiberglas stock. Probably forgetting some thing. In any event the reason I list these items is to explain I have quite a bit of energy into this rifle & really enjoyed shooting it. Plus my dad really likes shooting it as well. So I need another complete bolt assembly. Any of you know where I can get one? I would like a USGI bolt but the costs I have read are a bit too much for me and will part it out before spending a thousand dollars on a bolt alone. So far I’m leaning toward just buying another M14 and taking the bolt out of it. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

762mmfirearms bolt? The do ship to Canada. They are M1A bolts ;) Many folks here have had great success with them.

Luckily Norc bolts are not expensive, and they do come up for sale quite often on the EE Forum. :D

762mm firearms recently refused to ship a bolt to me, as it was over the $100 ITAR limit. Perhaps they did ship bolts in the past, but apparently no longer.

Still, probably worth a try, perhaps I spoke to the wrong person.

Bolts require an export permit, regardless of their value. An exporter must be registered, and the business you spoke with might not be registered. A registered exporter will tell you to get an IIC from DFAIT.

How to apply for an International Import Certificate

Hello
I do not have any pictures. Might get around to doing that for those that are curious. I'n a non-vilent matter I mean that there was almost no change in sound and it chambered another round. Almost like it fell apart.

what nobody has pointed out to you is that you just CAN'T "switch bolts" in an m14 and get away with it- even between manufacturers- you need to have it headspaced, and that requires doctor's or hungry's level of expertise-so, even if you COULD get one , it would be somewhat dangerous to fit it yourself and fire- my best advice?- if it came from marstar or can-am, try the b*tch about warranty route- if it's realtivly new- if you can't get satisfaction that way, shoot it to the doctor or that level of competnetcy - NOT EVERYONE IS QUALIFIED on the m14 platform, and you don't want a hack job on a rifle

+1.

Runt, I would appreciate any photos of the broken bolt you can post or share. I can post the photos on my non-profit research web site if that's acceptable. How many rounds had been fired through the rifle with that bolt? leeace99@hotmail.com if you would like to e-mail some photos.

You can just put one in, all you have to do is check it with a set of headspace gauges. If it checks out OK then just shoot it, if not then you need expert assistance.

yea, but this is the ONE instance where you need 7.62 guages, NOT 308 winchester guages- i have never seen a set of those outside of the military armourer's kit

I agree, exactly what he typed! Always good to play it safe! And  I ain't an M14 expert like a gunsmith (M14Doctor). I am out of my league on this one!

It will be going to M14Doctor

Hello
Yes the goood Doctor will be looking at the rifle if he has time. No I will not just throw it in and try to fire it. Just need to find a bolt.....any one.....any one?

Aren't 7.62 NATO min/max headspace guages common? Have these along with 308 min. in my tool box.

I also have a stripped norc bolt with the roller still on it that I replaced w/7.62mm bolt to bring headspace to 308 minimum instead of NATO dimensions. PM me if you want to try it out for headspace with your rifle...
